This weekend brings a unique convergence of events for the UK. Not only is it Easter weekend, a time of religious observance and celebration for many, but it also marks the weekend when the UK switches to daylight saving time, commonly known as the « clocks change. » Adding to this rare occurrence, airlines are transitioning to their summer flight schedules. This triple coincidence is expected to have significant implications for air travel in the coming weeks. #easter #nats #atm #aerobernie https://lnkd.in/dNxpneFE

At present, to fly nonstop between Seattle (SEA) and Washington DC’s Reagan National Airport (DCA), the average consumer pays amongst the highest ticket prices in the entire United States. This is due to Alaska Airlines presently having a monopoly on the route, and thus practically full say on pricing. Therefore, any new entrant to the market would significantly lower prices by increasing competition, making tickets more accessible for all. https://lnkd.in/g5UkxhNF https://lnkd.in/g7hgAxaJ

Today at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, amidst confusion and uncertainty, I learned a powerful message - Trust God. Facing a flight delay due to a power outage, it felt like the world was ending as the B concourse was pitch-black dark (power is still not restored). As the situation unfolded, Delta Air Lines team members united to ensure passengers could continue their journeys by rolling out a manual process for boarding eventually boarding at 4:09p. This experience reinforced these gentle reminders as I feel that I’ve deviated a bit from them: - You can only control how you respond to life's challenges, not people, not destiny, and surely not fate. Let go! - Prioritize safety and pay attention to signs that protect you. You never know what you’re being saved from. - Embrace the journey, relax. All things are working together for you. #TrustGod #Adaptability #LifeLessons #SafetyFirst

I wish we didn't live in such a capitalistic society most times. I wish that airlines could facilitate evacuations.... for example: if you're under an evac order, your flight out of the area is a nominal fee, and your return flight, to the same airport, is $100 (or less?) within, say, a 21 day window. I hear and see so many people say that they can't evacuate because they have no where to go, or that family is too far. imagine the literal life saving measure this could be. Work on it, airlines. There is a true disparity and leads to a lack of being able to or lack of wanting to travel for people that have disabilities especially those experiencing spinal cord injuries. My son and I have experienced this first hand. Our family travels extensively, after my son’s injury we did not want to exclude him or have to cancel our family trips. The airlines did not have an aisle chair waiting for him, although I made it clear in my reservation and spoke with an agent when I checked our bags. They had to order an aisle chair so that he could be taken onto the plane and down the aisle. The gate agent was not happy about having to make this accommodation. Thanks to our wonderful PT and OT team we were prepared for leaving the wheelchair at the gate. We removed his pressure relieving cushion and any other items that could get lost or broken on the chair. Which saved all of us a headache and allowed my son to be more comfortable on the plane ride with his pressure relieving cushion. A change needs to happen with the airlines. People with physical disabilities should not have to give up a fundamental right of traveling, seeing the world and becoming a globally conscious citizen because they are afraid of having such an incremental and medically necessary part of their lives lost or destroyed. Make airline aisles accessible to wheelchairs to make travel easier on anyone with a physical disability and airline workers. #disabilityjustice #disabilityawareness #disabilitypride #childrenscharity #childrenwithdisabilities #makeadifference
"The airlines don't understand that I need my chair. It's a part of my everyday world, my everyday life. I need it like I need water," says United Spinal member, Shannon Minnick. Join us in making a change in airline accessibility: https://lnkd.in/gTGGAbC6

Despite millions of successful movements on Canadian runways each year, airplanes sometimes go past the end of a runway surface during landings or rejected takeoffs. These events, known as runway overruns, can result in damage to airplanes and the environment, injuries, and even loss of life. Although some airport operators and Transport Canada - Transports Canada have taken action, runway overruns continue to occur at Canadian airports.
