The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and OAG underscore the promising potential of Africa's rapidly growing population for the aviation sector. With cities like Cairo, Johannesburg, and Lagos already home to millions, and future growth expected in Luanda and Dar es Salaam, the demand for air services is poised to soar. While some regions, such as North Africa, have seen increased airline capacity, this growth presents a unique opportunity for other regions to catch up. To unlock this potential, developing air connectivity across the continent will be crucial. By addressing challenges in infrastructure and regulation, the aviation sector can capitalize on Africa's urbanization and create more robust travel networks. Both IATA and OAG emphasize the positive opportunities for connecting Africa's growing population with enhanced air services, which will drive economic and social development across the continent. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eutzmyWf

On 5 April 2023, the State Secretariat for Civil Aviation and Cambodia Airports (a subsidiary of VINCI Airports in Cambodia), signed a memorandum of understanding concerning the international airports of Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. This agreement paves the way for the continuation of the historic partnership between the two parties, which began in 1995. Cambodia Airports will operate the new Phnom Penh International Airport (Techo Takmao) upon its entry into service. It also provides for the continuation of investments against an extension of the duration of the concession of the Sihanoukville international airport, which VINCI Airports has operated since 2006. VINCI Airports has been involved in the operation of Cambodia's three international airports since the beginning of the years 2000, thus contributing to the strong development of civil aviation in the Kingdom, a key activity for the tourism industry. For the record, in 2019, the country's three international airports welcomed 11.6 million passengers. And air traffic has not yet returned to its pre-crisis level, with 5.1 million air passengers recorded in 2023. https://lnkd.in/g2gxeNSq #airports #airportIR #modalisnewsfeed #cambodia #france #ssca #vinciairports #phnompenh #sihanoukville #airportmanagement

Lomé is the hub of west Africa aviation travel Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport, Lomé, Republic of Togo. This airport is the hub of the pan African airline. A Sky. The airport is small but services far better than two Cameroon’s international airports: Nsimalen and Douala. And more, the Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport has free WiFi whereas Cameroon’s two international airports doesn’t have WiFi. Cameroon, let us keep calling ourselves superlative names: miniature Africa, continent, planet or galaxy. While we deceive ourselves into thinking that we are what we’re not, others are working and improving while we run our loud mouths.
