At #AAIC24? Come by my poster tomorrow (Poster ID Monday-825) where I’ll show new data on a SomaScan based protein predictor of conversion from MCI to dementia. Given the importance of emerging clinical trials to target prodromal and at-risk populations this signature, with a NPV of 86%, this has the potential to significantly enrich trial design increasing trial efficiency, lowering costs, and increasing chances of success. Look forward to seeing my network there! #proteomics #neuro

Tomorrow, June 1st from 13:30 to 16:30 CDT, I will present at #ASCO2024 a poster on advanced machine learning applications in neuroblastoma patients. This work culminates as one of our main results in the Primage Project. Study Overview: Objective: To enhance survival prediction and risk stratification in neuroblastoma (NB) patients using clinical, molecular, and MR radiomics features at diagnosis. Methods: The study included 513 patients and a validation cohort of 22 patients. We developed a predictive model using semi-automatically segmented primary tumors and harmonized radiomics features. Results: The model achieved a C-index of 0.788 ± 0.049 in the test partition and 0.934 in the external validation. It outperformed standard classification systems and identified key predictive features such as lesion heterogeneity and molecular variables. Conclusion: The predictive model shows significant potential to improve risk stratification in NB management, warranting further prospective validation. https://bit.ly/44J2sB5 #ClinicalResearch #Neuroblastoma #MachineLearning #Quibim Jose Lozano Montoya Luis Marti-Bonmati Ángel Alberich-Bayarri Diana Veiga-Canuto Leonor Cerdá Glen Weiss, MD, MBA

Examining extracellular vesicles as neural circulating biomarkers: in this review article, Rocío Bravo Miana, PhD, Jone Karmele Arizaga Echebarria and David Otaegui at Biogipuzkoa emphasised key evidence regarding central nervous system-derived EVs found in cerebrospinal fluid and blood samples of patients with neurological diseases, highlighting reported biomarkers and the technical methods available for their isolation https://lnkd.in/eCpPWCzG The authors anticipate the discovery of novel disease-specific panels of EV biomarkers, which would drive the shift from traditional medicine to personalised medicine. #extracellularvesicles #exosomes #biomarkers #centralnervoussystem #Vesiculab

📍 The spatial organization in early-developing human lung Sariyar et al. described the protein-level spatiotemporal organization of the lung during the first trimester of human gestation. Key points 🔸 High-parametric tissue imaging with a 30-plex antibody panel 🔸 Analysis of human lung samples from 6 to 13 post-conception weeks 🔸 Over 2 million cells across five developmental timepoints 🔸 Spatially resolved cell type composition including proliferative states, immune cell patterns, spatial arrangement traits, and their temporal evolution. ➡️ More details: https://lnkd.in/eSgGrMCe #KTHRoyalInstituteofTechnology #spatialomics #spatialbiology #singlecellanalysis #singlecell

📢 ✔ It is exciting to share our latest review work related to Central Nervous System-derived Extracellular Vesicles as biomarkers in neurodegenerative diseases. The central nervous system (CNS) is integrated by glial and neuronal cells, and both release extracellular vesicles (EVs) that participate in CNS homeostasis. EVs could be one of the best candidates to operate as nanosized biological platforms for analysing multidimensional bioactive cargos, which are protected during systemic circulation of EVs. Having a window into the molecular level processes that are happening in the CNS could open a new avenue in CNS research. This raises a particular point of interest: can CNS-derived EVs in blood serve as circulating biomarkers that reflect the pathological status of neurological diseases? The answer, here 👇 https://lnkd.in/dKcz-VuW Jone Karmele Arizaga Echebarria David Otaegui
