Innovation is not just about technology, but about creating opportunities and improving the quality of life of citizens. Turin and Braga won the 2024-25 European Capital of Innovation Awards, assigned yesterday during the Web Summit in Lisbon. The iCapital prize recognizes cities that have embedded innovation into the daily fabric of urban life, advancing sustainable, inclusive, and resilient communities. Very proud to see that the innovative projects on night-time economy, such as European Urban Initiative-UIA ToNite and URBACT Cities After Dark that I'm supporting as expert in both the cities, are recognized as a crucial part of both the cities' holistic approaches to experimentation and innovation. MIPIM | Round Table “Enabling Sustainable Growth and Innovative Construction Models” - March 13, 2024 The future of construction, with a focus on investment dynamics in public-private assets, also from a European perspective, will be the topic of the second panel of the #Chiomenti conference at MIPIM, coordinated by Umberto Borzi, Partner Chiomenti, and moderated by the Italian-British journalist Barbara Serra. How will #sustainability and #AI impact the future of architecture? Carlo Ratti, Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Head of the Senseable City Lab, will address this matter, focusing on the possibility to innovate the Italian architecture also with the support of AI. Giovanna Della Posta, CEO of INVIMIT SGR SpA, will discuss the future of Italian public assets and improvements on the public-private prospects, while Stephanie Bensimon, member of the Executive Committee and Board of Ardian France and Head of Real Estate of Ardian, will give insights on Ardian’s investment plans on the European and Italian market. Happy 😊 to be in the beautiful #Crete attending the Conference in Emerging Technologies in Transportation Systems (#TRC-30), wonderfully organized by a great team of EPFL. Seshadri Naik and I are enjoying inspirational keynote speaks of the highest level 🙌 and meeting very nice colleagues. And today it's our turn to present a poster that summarizes one of the aspects we are analyzing in the #Platoon project: ad hoc #management #strategies to optimize #CAV #platooning on #freeways. We have tested a #novel #car-#following algorithm specifically defined for #CAV platooning as well as several management strategies in Aimsun Next. This research is the result of the teamwork 🤓 carried out by our PI Francesc Soriguera, Bryce C. and Marcel Sala together with Seshadri and myself, and with the invaluable advice of Jaume Barcelo. We're thrilled to announce the official launch of the BEAGLE project! 🇪🇺 On January 30th & 31st, we gathered in the charming city of Reus 🇪🇸 Spain, hosted by project coordinator Universitat Rovira i Virgili to embark on this innovative venture. ➡ BEAGLE introduces a pioneering methodology for value creation, employing the Blue Ocean strategy to explore new market niches and foster sustainable value chains in untapped markets. ➡ Throughout the project, our goal is to unveil 20 new market niches, known as Blue Oceans, and co-create 20 innovation proposals with specific roadmaps. By fostering collaboration among academia, technology centers, and industry clusters, we'll engage in co-creation activities to discover opportunities, develop innovation proposals, and consolidate new market niches to attract investment.
