In a significant development for Brazil’s maritime industry, Raízen, a prominent integrated energy company in the country, has announced the launch of a new bunkering operation in the key ports of Belém and Vila do Conde, located in North Brazil. This expansion represents a major milestone for Raízen, as it extends its presence into vital hubs within the Amazon region, that serve as pivotal hubs for maritime activities, facilitating trade and commerce both within Brazil and beyond. Paula Georgopoulos Tinoco, Bunker Sales Coordinator at Raízen, shared about the development, stating, “This marks the full operation of our local physical bunker supply services, featuring the availability of VLSFO 380CST grade fuel. To ensure seamless operations, we have deployed two double-hulled bunker barges ready to serve a diverse array of oceangoing vessels.” #bunkering #energy #shipping #marine #maritime #petroleum #shipowners #decarbonization #technology #digitalization #energytransition #sustainable #oilandgas #cleanenergy #carboncapture #ports #greenenergy #greenshipping #netcarbonzero #society #sustainability #bunkermarket #europe #usa #uk #canada #uae #netherlands #denmark #norway #sweden #singapore #belgium #portugal #brazil #para #belem #viladoconde #portofitaqui #itaqui #riodejaneiro #raizen #raízen #vlsfo #vlsfobunkering #brazilbunkering #bunkersuppliers https://lnkd.in/d9FSA7mf

"I am very proud to say Odfjell has been one of the pioneers in decarbonization of our owned fleet, having worked on reducing emissions for over a decade now. In parallel with researching and testing novel technologies, we have concentrated our efforts on improvements we can make on the current ships, as well as looking at vessel life extension programs. " 👉 General Manager of Odfjell in Singapore, Zaidi Mohd, shared insights in Odfjell Tankers' presence in Asia, the chemical tanker outlook, and our approach to decarbonization in an interview with Global Business Reports (GBR). "Chemical tankers have a lifespan of 15-20 years, but you will see many of Odfjell’s tankers that are 15 to 20 years old look like new because of the attention we pay to high standards of maintenance. It is not just about building low-carbon emission ships and scrapping old ones for the sake of it, but also about making existing ships more low-carbon and longer-living. There is so much one can do on the current vessels." Read more👇

Brittany Ferries, Wärtsilä, and Incat Tasmania have signed a partnership deal to explore the design and technical requirements for a 137m zero-emissions craft. The project comes as Brittany Ferries nears the completion of the biggest fleet renewal program in its history. Five new vessels will have joined the fleet between 2020 and 2025, including two LNG-powered ships (currently in service) and two shore-power-ready LNG-electric hybrids. The tripartite deal brings together heavyweight marine partners with complementary strengths. Their expertise includes the design and construction of fast craft, all aspects of engineering and technical needs, and experience in operating a large and diverse fleet. Wärtsilä is a supplier to all five new ships in Brittany Ferries ongoing fleet renewal project. This includes LNG engines that power Salamanca, which joined the fleet in 2022, and Santoña in 2023. In addition, Wärtsilä is installing LNG-hybrid drivetrains for hybrid vessels currently under construction and set to sail for Europe by the end of this year. #bunkering #bunkermarket #energy #shipping #maritime #shipowners #decarbonization #digitalization #energytransition #oilandgas #ports #marinefuels #netzero #uk #europe #france #ireland #spain #brittanyferries #ferries #incat #wartsila #netzero #zeroemissions https://lnkd.in/d5h7B8Nm

This week on Bunkerspot saw some notable #LNG bunkering firsts. KPI OceanConnect announced it had completed its maiden SIMOPs LNG bunkering with Pavilion Energy in #Singapore, fuelling MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company’s vessel Monica Cristina, while the Port of #Klaipeda hosted its first ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation. In 2021, Hapag-Lloyd AG Brussels Express became the first large #containership to be converted to run on LNG. This week it was announced that the 15,000 TEU vessel had been bunkered with 2,200 metric tonnes of liquefied #biomethane at the Port of #Rotterdam in a ship-to-ship operation undertaken by Titan and STX Group - the shipowner’s first use of LBM as a marine fuel. From 2030, all new harbour craft operating in the Port of #Singapore will have to be fully #electric, be capable of using B100 #biofuel, or be compatible with net zero fuels such as #hydrogen – and there were some important steps towards that goal this week with the launch of the first pilot trial for an electric harbour craft charging point at the Marina South Pier, and the commencement of shipbuilding of the first fully electric PXO tug and supply boat by PaxOcean Group. In other news, fuel supplier STONEWIN informed us that the 2013-built Verde tanker is now supporting its operations in Port Louis, #Mauritius; Monjasa reported that it supplied a record volume of 6.5 million metric tonnes of #marinefuel in 2023, which was 2% up on the previous year’s 6.4 million mt; and Japanese power generation company JERA Co., Inc.. announced it will start truck-to-ship ammonia bunkering of the NYK Line-owned tugboat A-Tug at the end of May.
