Had a great day with the Sunbury Revitalization team this weekend! A few weeks ago, I ran a training for their team and facilitated a dinner for local businesses. On Saturday, we built upon that momentum and hosted a community block party to collect the ideas, stories, and dreams of local residents when thinking about the future they want to create for their downtown. Here’s how we did it. We leveraged an approach I call the 3P’s: Pause, Possibility, Participation. We started with music, big colorful flags, and free cookies and popcorn. That was enough to cause people to pause and wonder what was going on. The first step is to always disrupt people’s routine. Next we invited them complete three simple stations that all were designed to show what’s possible in their town. Station 1: What I Appreciate… They wrote down what they appreciated about Sunbury on 60 cards that broke down their town into small aspects (safety, education, street lights, events, senior life, transportation, etc). Station 2: What I Hope to See… They added their ideas through post it notes and mini lego structures that they placed on a giant map print out of their downtown. Station 3: What We Can Co-create… They placed stickers on a mosaic to reveal an image that symbolized their future. Each sticker was a photo that neighbors had previously taken highlighting all of the aspects of their town they most love - it included people, businesses, places, events, and historic photos. After they completed each station, they were invited to share their information in a raffle to win gift cards to local businesses. On the raffle ticket, we invited them to share how they’d like to further participate in downtown revitalization efforts. It was such a fun event and we had an amazing turn-out, far more than the organizing team had hoped for. I love seeing communities come together in ways like this and how simple events can inspire a multitude of other ways they could creatively engage their community. Big thanks to the team for inviting me in to help guide the process alongside you all. #community #facilitation #placemaking #downtownrevitalization

I had the pleasure of attending the Automatic Gathering last week and left inspired. The Forth Hotel by New City Properties, LLC & Method Co. is an instant classic, and being surrounded by such a high-caliber group was energizing. Here are a few highlights: 1. As my dad has always said, if you can create real community, success follows. Across every panel—from developers to operators to capital providers—the emphasis on the need for community was clear. In a world that feels increasingly disconnected, this focus is clearly top of mind. 2. Homegrown, Sugarcoat, and Switchyards brought invaluable insights at the intersection of capital and brick and mortar retail services. Despite vastly different business models and real estate needs, these companies' growth stories reflects the grit and vision it takes to scale brick-and-mortar businesses. At Clay Cove, we are fortunate to work with operating partners that embody this same drive and determination. 3. With retail supply at an all-time low, tenants can be choosier than ever. I heard again and again that the best partnerships between tenants and building owners are founded on candor and mutual respect for the value each party brings—we walk this talk by building true partnerships with our operating partners. 4. Jodi McLean’s of EDENS concept of "discordant harmony" as a cultural framework for teams really hit home. It’s something we’re actively building at Clay Cove as we grow our team—balancing openness, respect, and constructive challenge. 5. This ones for the locals....Atlanta needs more active, equitable collaboration between the arts and development communities. Toni Williams' panel with Atlanta's cultural icons highlighted the importance of spaces where creativity thrives and Atlanta’s culture can evolve. The Goat Farm (TriBridge Residential) event last Saturday was a perfect example—let's see more of this! Excited to bring these insights back to Clay Cove Capital, where aligning the interests of operators, investors, and communities is central to what we do. Thanks to the AUTOMATIC for such a top-notch event!

You get access only when you open the door... This scenario is common with all of us, we open doors all the time. Doors in our houses, office, in public spaces, etc. But let's look at this. You know how you move into a new house and are trying to arrange the house and settle in, some of us take days arranging. Sometimes, is unclear where to station what. But as we settle in, we figure it out one at a time. What am I driving at? I see PURPOSE like a DOOR, and CLARITY, a ROOM. We spend years outside of that room and away from the door, sometimes we're unaware that we're supposed to find it. Suddenly we begin looking to find it, like when you are looking for a new apartment to move. When you find your purpose, you are opening your door, the space you're walking into is the place you find clarity of purpose; It is by stepping inside, you get the full view. Now to the vital question. Are you living your purpose? Have you found your door? There's no need to get confused, I am a dm away from helping you find answers. Also plan to attend our next event on Empowered Futures 0.7 Topic: Finding Clarity of Purpose and Winning Strategies for 2025 https://lnkd.in/exRw2sDb 📅 19th December, 2024 🕖 7pm 📍 LinkedIn Live See you there. #katmaanmantim #purpose #clarity #empoweredfutures

This is excellent Marsha Ramroop FRSA FIEDP. Commendable openess from you. We should all be doing this. We have an Inclusive Growth Strategy at The Reverse Mentoring Practice. We adapted it from the OECD - OCDE inclusive growth pillars. Using this we are working to increase inclusion in all components of our value chain. We need to be more accountable and transparent as you have and maybe more focus on sustainability.

I promised to share this to hold myself #accountable for being #inclusive not just in how the event looked for people to attend, but how it was put together and the #suppliers used. So, where the money came from and who it went to, is all listed here. 'Building Inclusion - The Book, The Work, The Event' cost over £24k to put on, and a further £15-17k in supporting costs across six months.
