Very insightful visit to Infinitum AS, Norway's DRS operator. Norway's DRS for recycling is one of the oldest in the world and recognised for its best practices. Take-aways from my side: - Well thought legislation is key, embedding the right incitives for retailers and producers to act jointly towards a >90% collection for recycling rate of beverage containers. Norway's environmental tax and take-back obligation for retailers achieve this. - PET bottles' environmental competitive advantage relies in its high closed-loop material reuse potential. Up to us to secure this loop physically and financially, bringing PET bottles back into PET bottles, at lowest possible cost. - There's constant improvement potential in DRS operations. Logistics excellence is a MUST, to deliver a low-cost and low-carbon DRS: need to identify the right empty trucks on the road to manage the DRS' transport legs. - Get the right people on the DRS Board. Representatives of producers and retailers, mandated to get it to work. DRS management passionate and diplomatic. Thank you Kjell Olav A.
