At Coca-Cola Europacific Partners , sustainability is not just a goal—it’s the foundation of everything we do, embedded *throughout our value chain*. Our unwavering commitment to creating a circular economy is reflected in a series of impactful initiatives across the value chain: ✅ Sustainable design in our products to minimize waste from the start ✅ An integrated waste management of our production processes ✅ A joint venture with Dynapack Asia to establish Amandina Bumi Nusantara, a food grade, recycling PET facility that enables a *bottle-to-bottle, closed loop, circular economy practice ✅ Establishment of Mahija Parahita Nusantara, a non-profit foundation that embed a just and inclusive transition for the informal sector of waste management as ways to implement responsible collection ✅ Partnerships with multi-stakeholders to enable each partner to play their role effectively and drive value creation. ✅ Community empowerment through waste banks, delivering environmental, social and economy benefits ✅ Collaborations with universities, such as the Waste Track Project, to advance innovation and research in sustainability. ✅ Partnerships with local leaders and communities to create awareness, drive behavior change, and transform waste into valuable resources. Plastic waste is transboundary. I remember seeing plastic label in Indonesia’s beaches which language I did not understand. It shows that plastic waste could flow from and to anywhere. It is not a problem for solely one country. If you are in Busan for the INC-5, I’ll be moderating this session tomorrow on the Readiness of Southeast Asian Region for the Plastic Treaty. Join us as we’re discussing the challenges, yet opportunties to find solutions - including building a robust plastic data, financing, capacity building and technology to tackle these challenges together as a region. #INC5 #StopPlasticPollution #UNPlasticTreaty #SoutheastAsia

ESG Negotiation --- To negotiate literally means there are challenging impediments that inherently obstruct the nature to take its own course. Plastic menace is an #esg headache due to its many risks to users and environment. Plastic waste in the form of microplastics and nanoplastics cause far-reaching health hazards. Cost of not making end-of-life plastic a circular economy candidate saves money for plastic manufacturers and feedstock suppliers. Cascading the expense for recovery or reuse down to users or consumers are economic disaster that will be costly at the downstream end. While still upstream, if plastic trades factor in afteruse salvaging using their expertise, it will be cheaper to tackle the widespread #esg problems in the human body or at the high sea to endanger marine eternity. The meeting was a platform to discuss matters related to the country's direction towards the Global Plastics Treaty and was attended by representatives of ministries and NGOs as well as industry players from NRES, MITI, MOFA, KPKT, KPDN, Attorney General's Chambers, Department of Fisheries, UiTM, PETRONAS, Malaysia Plastic Manufacturers Association (MPMA), Malaysia Petrochemical Association (MPA), Malaysia Plastics Recyclers Association (MPRA), WWF-Malaysia, Consumers' Association of Penang (CAP), Center to Combat Corruption & Cronyism (C4 Center) and Greenpeace. To date, Malaysia has attended a series of international negotiations related to the Global Plastics Treaty. NRES will also lead the Malaysian delegation to the 4th INC negotiation series (INC-4) from 23rd to 29th April 2024 in Ottawa, Canada. Malaysia will continue our active involvement during the Global Plastics Treaty negotiation session and will ensure that our national interests will not be compromised. At the same time, environmental sustainability initiatives as well as economic development through a just transition will be given serious attention in line with NRES’ policy on single-use plastic and sustainable plastic.
