CEVA SANTE ANIMALE’s Post

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Simon Doherty, a visionary leader and advocate for #animalhealth and welfare whose influence will continue to inspire the global veterinary profession for many years to come. Simon’s contributions as President of the British Veterinary Association (BVA), Director of the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association (WAVMA) and Senior Lecturer at Queen's University Belfast are testament to his commitment to the advancement of veterinary science, One Health and sustainable food production. Earlier this year at the World Veterinary Association (WVA) Congress in Cape Town, South Africa, Simon was deservedly awarded with the #Veterinarian of the Year Award, and the prize for the #OneHealth category. As proud partners of the #WVAAwards, we were privileged to recognize his achievements, including his pioneering contributions to the One Health approach. We extend our deepest condolences to Simon’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. His vision and passion will remain a guiding light in our collective efforts to improve animal and human health worldwide. Rest in peace, Simon.

A true gentleman. I was lucky enough to have benefitted from his words of wisdom. A loss to the industry. Sending comfort to his family and colleagues at this difficult time.

I'm totally heartbroken for Simon's family. It just doesn't seem fair to go from this high earlier in the year, to this tragic loss. What a wonderful man and friend. We will all miss you #OneHealthOneHeart 💗
