Hearing Loss LIVE! Hearing Loss Resource Specialist

I've been thinking about how resilience applies to hearing loss this weekend. Building resilience with my hearing loss was pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Not an easy task. It takes a certain amount of determination to get it right. If I tried it one way and it didn't work out, I'll allow myself a bit of a pity party. When my emotions have settle down a bit, I move forward with, "What can I do to make it better next time?" Then each time I get it right, I build a little more confidence, step by step. These days nothing much puts me into a panic because I know my options and I had the practice. I'll run into a new issue now and then, I chalk it up to a learning experience and know that next time I'll do better. This resonates so well with many people experiencing a change of hearing. I would add though having the confidence to ask for changes that includes us is also an important part of the resilience journey. Communication is two way.
