We are delighted that MAN Truck & Bus and E.ON are working together to build a comprehensive public charging network for electric trucks across Europe - a huge step for the future of sustainable logistics!" What does this mean for the future? - A strong network across Europe: 170 locations with 400 charging points. - The largest public charging network for electric commercial vehicles in the country: 125 locations in Germany. - Fast charging stations: 400 kW charging points for fast recharging in just 45 minutes. You can find more details about the charging infrastructure here: https://go.man/sXPoqDZc This project is a significant step towards achieving emission targets and promoting sustainable logistics. The first locations will be opened this year, with around 80 locations expected to be operational by the end of 2025. Together with E.ON, we are creating the necessary infrastructure for a greener future in heavy goods transport. #MANTruckAndBus #EON #electromobility #sustainability #greenlogistics #emissionfree

This article shares some interesting insights into the US bus manufacturing industry. With the exit of Nova Bus and recent Proterra Inc bankruptcy, it may come as a surprise to many that there are now only four bus manufacturers in the US. When you compare that number with Europe with about 35 manufacturers, that’s an incredibly small number for such a market size like the US. This obviously limits choice available to transit agencies and could potentially result in corporate oligopolies. Although, one could argue that public transport use in Europe is higher than US, the challenge is that as demand for PT rises in the US, it will become challenging for bus manufacturers in the US to keep up with demand for new buses. A case in point is the recent US federal investment in transition to electric buses that has somewhat exposed the limitations in the US bus supply chain. What’s also intriguing is that, according to federal procurement rules, bus manufacturers in the US don’t get paid until orders have been fully delivered, when transit agencies are using federal grants. And unfortunately, federal grants account for significant amount of new bus acquisition in the US. #publictransport

The switch to e-mobility in public transport saw a huge growth over the past years. The article below summarizes sales figures from across the world (covering 2017-2023) and provides an outlook of the development. vhh.mobility is a front runner in electric buses operation - from setting up electric ready depots and maintenance centers to optimizing bus scheduling considering range and route specifics. And growth of the sector won't be over yet - an example from South America according to the article: " It is expected that by the end of 2024, São Paulo will have at least 2,600 e-buses operating on municipal lines." That is coming close to 20% of the fleet. https://lnkd.in/dq_Sm4a8

🚛🔋 New Survey: 9 out of 10 Truck Drivers Prefer Driving Electric! A recent survey by Oslo's Climate Agency and the Norwegian EV Association reveals that 88% of companies that have transitioned to electric trucks report satisfied drivers. This is a positive development, benefiting both the environment and working conditions! Perhaps a bit unexpected, but one of the key benefits cited was reduced noise levels, creating a quieter and more pleasant work environment for drivers. 🚛🌟 However, challenges remain, such as the need for more fast chargers and better access to charging lanes prioritized and dimensioned for trucks. Some stats 🔌⚡: By setting requirements in public tenders, the city of Oslo has encouraged more companies to invest in zero-emission vehicles. Statistics show that 25% of new truck sales (over 3.5 tons) in Oslo are electric, compared to 12.6% across the rest of Norway. It’s clear that with these kinds of incentives and steadily improving infrastructure, the transition to electric trucks is only poised to accelerate. We hope This best practice will inspire other cities and countries to follow suit. Circle K is fully aware of the transport sector's challenges with charging infrastructure, and we are steadily expanding our truck charging network across Scandinavia, addressing this critical infrastructure need in the transition to more sustainable forms of mobility. 🚀⚡ More on the survey results can be found here (NB: in Norwegian): https://lnkd.in/djdJBU23 #ev #emobility #ElectricTrucks #SustainableTransport #CircleK #EVInfrastructure

Electric vehicles’ future is bright in Australia, but it depends a lot on how quickly charging stations can be built. Concerns have been made about charging stations in Europe, and the same is happening in Australia as it tries to switch to electric trucks. Australia is still in the early stages of adopting this type of vehicles. Electric trucks only have a small market share, about the same as Europe's under 2% for emission-free heavy trucks, even though the government has big plans to cut carbon emissions and shipping companies are becoming more interested. The country doesn't have a charging infrastructure that is big enough to support broad adoption yet, which is the main problem. Many places, especially rural and remote areas that are important for long-haul trucking, don't have enough charging sites. Putting together a complete charging network will take a lot of money, maybe even billions of dollars. To meet the needs of the logistics business, this network needs to be placed strategically along major transportation routes. Also, making sure that the electricity source is green is important for getting the environmental benefits of electric trucks. Moving to electric cars must happen at the same time as switching to clean energy sources, which means that the transportation and energy industries must work together. However, there are reasons why the future is looking bright. The Australian government has started to understand how important electric cars are for meeting climate goals by investing in infrastructure and giving subsidies to people who buy them. It's also important for the business sector to get involved, with logistics companies and truck manufacturers investing in EV technology. Improvements in technology, such as faster charging and better battery economy, will also be very important. Government regulations, like Europe's strict CO2 goals, could speed up the change even more. #ElectricTrucks #EVInfrastructure #SustainableTransport #GreenEnergy #AustraliaEV #CarbonReduction #EVChargingStations

The electric bus market is EXPLODING. As of the latest research study by Persistence Market Research Pvt. Ltd., the global electric bus market witnessed a valuation of approximately USD 20.31 billion in 2022, with a projected Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 11.95%. The market is anticipated to reach a remarkable USD 50.14 billion by the year 2030. New Flyer of America was recently awarded two contracts by the New York City Transit Authority. These contracts order 429 of New Flyer’s cutting-edge Xcelsior battery-electric buses. The contracts include an option for NYCT to buy up to 1,661 additional New Flyer electric buses over the next five years. According to Persistence Market Research: https://lnkd.in/dVYPEtPb This exponential growth is attributed to the escalating global electric bus market emphasis on fostering electric mass transit solutions, driven primarily by governmental support aimed at promoting the use of electric vehicles. The Middle East and Africa are poised to emerge as leading regions in the global market during the forecast period, propelled by government initiatives promoting electric mass transit vehicles in the region. The presence of a high concentration of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in these regions, coupled with the increasing production of electric buses, is projected to bolster the growth of the electric bus market. Growing Environmental Awareness: Rising environmental consciousness and concerns about air quality are compelling cities and transportation authorities to transition from traditional diesel buses to electric alternatives, reducing emissions and environmental impact. Volvo Buses is a subsidiary of the Swedish automotive giant Volvo Group. They are known for manufacturing a wide range of buses. Zhongtong Bus & Holding Co., Ltd is a Chinese company specializing in the production of buses and commercial vehicles. Irizar e-mobility is a Spanish manufacturer of buses and coaches, including electric buses. After its bankruptcy, Proterra Inc's battery business was purchased by Volvo. Phoenix Motorcars completed its acquisition of the Proterra's Transit business. Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) is a British bus and coach manufacturer. Yutong is a Chinese company and one of the world's largest bus manufacturers. BYD has significant numbers of electric buses already deployed in the US, and is a global leader in buses and EVs.
