Donating #blood isn't just about giving it's about creating a #healthieryou and a #healthierAfrica. It improves heart health by reducing iron levels, which can benefit cardiovascular health. By lowering iron levels, blood donation may even help reduce the risk of certain cancers, though there’s no hard evidence yet. Beyond the physical benefits, giving blood brings a deep sense of fulfilment, knowing your donation can save lives. It also supports community health by ensuring hospitals have the blood they need for emergencies. Plus, regular donations help you stay on top of your own blood health. Become part of the solution for Africa today. #DonateBloodAfrica #SaveLives #HealthyHeartsHealthyAfrica #BloodDonationMatters #GiveBloodSaveLives #StrongerCommunities #HealthForAll #AfricaBloodDonors

Did you know that a 20-second hug can reduce stress? Physical touch can increase our connection to one another and can lower feelings of anxiety and depression. But what if you could no longer hug or hold the hands of your loved ones? For many people with leprosy, this is a reality. In many places, people still believe that simply touching someone with leprosy will cause them to contract the disease as well. This is not true. However, this lingering stigma isolates many people with leprosy from loved ones, cutting them off from meaningful touch. This makes an already-difficult illness even more stressful and lonely. We can stop this through more awareness, training, and access to healthcare that can diagnose and treat this illness early. This is what we are dedicated to achieving along with our partners. By donating, you can help fund training, awareness initiatives, and screenings that will help restore connection and community for people struggling with leprosy. Blood Donation: A Noble Cause Recently, I had the privilege of participating in a blood donation camp, and I feel incredibly blessed and grateful to contribute to such a vital cause. Donating blood is not just a simple act of kindness; it is a lifeline for those in need. Why We Must Contribute: *Save Lives* Every donation can save up to three lives. Think about the impact you can have! *Community Support* Blood donations ensure that hospitals and clinics have a steady supply for emergencies. *Health Benefits* Donating blood can also benefit the donor by promoting heart health and stimulating the production of new blood cells. Common Myths Busted: Myth: Donating blood is painful. Fact: The discomfort is minimal and temporary. Myth: I can’t donate if I have a tattoo. Fact: You can donate if your tattoo is older than 12 months. Myth: Donating blood is risky. Fact: Blood donation is safe and regulated with sterile equipment. By dispelling these myths and spreading awareness, we can encourage more people to participate. Let's come together and contribute to this noble cause, making a difference one donation at a time. Did you know an estimated 4 million people suffer from podoconiosis worldwide? People like Bayush fear the stigma that comes with the disease as well as the physical consequences. A single £15 donation = one year of care for a podo patient. A small act, but one that changes lives. Let’s put an end to neglected tropical diseases and help those who need it most. 🧡 Donate now: https://lnkd.in/e4QvayYb #EndNTDs #HealthForAll #MakeARealImpact

🩸🩸Join the NBSZ and Alliance Health in Harare and Bulawayo this Friday 12 July 2024 🩸🩸 One pint of blood could save up to 3 lives! If you're new to donating blood, and feeling a bit apprehensive, that's ok, lots of people feel the same way, but it's often much less scary than people expect! A lot of people are apprehensive about needles, and that's totally normal. The good news is the needles used for blood donation are very thin and sharp, designed to minimize discomfort. The actual donation typically only takes around 10-15 minutes. The trained staff are experienced and skilled at making the donation process smooth and comfortable. They can answer any questions you have and will guide you through each step. If needles make you squeamish, look away. Bring a stress ball to squeeze, listen to music, or chat with the staff to distract yourself.. Join us this Friday any time between 08:30 and 15:30 and be a lifeline for those in need: Alliance Health, 7 Fleetwood Road, Alex Park, Harare Alliance Health, 7 Oak Avenue, Suburbs, Bulawayo #AllianceHealth #NBSZ #DonateBlood #SaveLife #BloodDrive #DonateLife #BloodSavesLives #BloodDonationMatters #BloodDonationAwareness

Have you given blood recently? 🩸 Did you know that just 1 hour ⏰ of your time can help save up to 3 lives! 🧍♀️🧍♂️🧍 On average 4,300 blood donations are needed every day to meet the needs of hospitals and the UK. To achieve this the NHS would need to attract 140,000 new donors and again to replace those who can no longer donate for Health or other reasons. It's important to encourage more young people to donate between the ages 17-35 to ensure we have enough blood for the future. 🩸 What to expect when you go to donate blood: 1. Complete a health check questionnaire 2. Have a chat about your health to make sure that it is safe for you to give blood 3. Sit down and donate blood – This takes about 10 minutes 4. Rest for 15 minutes afterwards – Have a drink and a snack 🥳And you’re done! Feel proud that your donation will help save up to 3 lives. We discuss the topic further in our latest blog, talking about who can and can't donate blood and who your blood is helping 😊 https://lnkd.in/duDy_35S You can register to donate blood in England here: www.blood.co.uk #BloodDonation #GiveBlood

Celebrate World Blood Donor Day! Donating blood is a powerful way to make a difference. If you're planning to donate, check out the below tips to ensure a smooth experience: 1. Before Donation: Ensure you meet the age, weight, and health requirements, and confirm you're not experiencing any illness. Hydrate well, eat a balanced meal, and get a good night's sleep. Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your arms, and bring a valid ID. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your donation. 2. During Donation: Register at the donation centre and go through a mini-physical. Answer any questions about your medical history and lifestyle. Stay calm and relaxed during the donation, which takes about 10-15 minutes. Squeeze a stress ball or make a fist periodically to keep the blood flowing. 3. After Donation: Rest for at least 10-15 minutes and have a snack and drink provided by the centre. Continue to hydrate over the next 24-48 hours. Avoid heavy exercise and monitor for any adverse reactions. Eat iron-rich foods and avoid alcohol for 24 hours post-donation. Regular donations can save many lives! Consider donating every 8 weeks if you’re eligible. 💪 #DonateBlood #GiveLife #CommunityCare #HealthTips #BloodDonation #SaveLives
