The Power of Roleplays Since Covid hit, most of us have been delivering training virtually. But we all know the power of face-to-face training. Your audience is way more engaged, and the retention of information is much higher (especially if you provide food and lollies throughout the training to keep everyone alert!) The powerful enablement tool we use here at Grant Thornton in a live setting is roleplay. In our recent 2-day sales training workshop, we asked volunteers to come to the front and roleplay a first meeting. By simulating real-life scenarios, our partners can practice their skills, test their knowledge, and receive feedback in a safe and controlled environment. It's 2025 planning season, which means it's the time of year where I PLEAD to not invest in training events alone. Training events can feel good, hit on the right areas & get high scores. But if it's only training, you're not going to drive outcomes. So before you research for hours, go out to bid, hire that big name SKO speaker or set up intro calls please consider defining: 1) Problems - What are we are looking to solve? 2) Outcomes - Top two and when do we need to see them by? 3) Timing - What would distract from this internally? 4) Influence - Who needs to be involved cross-functionally? 5) Reinforcement - Who owns it? (hint: not the training vendor alone, ever) 6) Systems - What would need to change or be updated? 7) Measurement - How will we measure short-term & long-term?
