📍#ShippingNews📍 ✅ #REGENT Craft Inc has engaged 🤝 Lloyd’s Register to provide certification and advisory services 🖋 for its ‘wing-in-ground-effect’ seaglider vessels. ✅ The company already has an orderbook of 6️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ seagliders, worth 💰9bn, from clients all over the world. They include ferry companies including Brittany Ferries, which would like to deploy them on the English Channel, and Germany’s FRS, which runs ferry services between Germany and Sweden. ✅ The ‘wing-in-ground’ seagliders operate within one wingspan of the water surface and are classed by the IMO as 👉 WIG ‘Type A’ craft. They are therefore subject to maritime regulations 🛳 and will be operated by specially trained mariners, ❌ not pilots. ✅ REGENT, an acronym for #Regional #Electric #Ground #Effect #Nautical #Transport, expects to have the first commercial ‘Viceroy’ seagliders, with capacity for 12 persons, in operation by 👉 ‘mid-decade’. Larger 100-person Monarch units are expected to be operating by the 👉 end of the decade. 📌 Source : Seatrade Maritime #lng #lngindustry #lngshipping #maritime #accidentinvestigation #safety #management

🙌 Everybody Home Safe: Testing Safety Equipment 🛳 Onboard of ships every 6 months a lifeboat free-fall test and drill has to be performed. This is defined in IMO's #SOLAS convention which is all about Safety Of Life At Sea. The #convention states that at intervals of not more than 6 months, the #lifeboat shall either be launched by free fall with only the operating crew on board, or simulated launching shall be carried out in accordance with the guidelines developed by the International Maritime Organization. 📝 To conduct a safety waterborne #test for a free-fall lifeboat by gravity is a critical procedure to ensure the #reliability and #functionality of this vital emergency equipment. The test simulates #reallife conditions, verifying that the lifeboat can be deployed safely and swiftly in case of an emergency. 📺 Watch testing the free-fall test onboard #CoralActinia. Thank you Chief Engineer Susila for sharing the pictures and explanation of testing this important #safety #equipment. #LifeonBoard #LifeofaSeafarer #NavigatingtheFuture #EverybodyHomeSafe

Dear all, next week we'll do a webinar on pilot transfer arrangements in cooperation with HELMEPA, Nautical Institute and PTRHolland. This webinar is especially created for ship crews, but also for people with a general interest in pilot ladders this will be a fruitfull event (after all, who isn't interested in pilot ladders????). Should you wish to be present at this webinar, please contact HELMEPA for further information and don't wait to long: the number of attendants is limited! Have a good weekend! p.s. Another astonishing WEEKLY LADDER MISERY will be posted at the end of this weekend (couple of days and a couple of more ships to go...) The importance of this kind of drill cannot be overemphasized. We need to be sure of the reliability of these equipments in case of emergency.
🌊 Free-Fall lifeboat Sea Trial: Safety in action! 🚤 I came across an impressive video showcasing a free-fall lifeboat test captured both externally and internally. It’s a thrilling demonstration of the engineering, precision, and safety protocols that go into ensuring these lifesaving vessels perform under extreme conditions. As per SOLAS regulations, these tests are conducted periodically to guarantee the functionality and reliability of the lifeboats. Key safety measures include: 1️⃣ Pre-test inspections: Ensure all equipment and fastening systems are in optimal condition. 2️⃣ Crew safety briefing: Train participants on emergency procedures, proper seating, and safety harnesses. 3️⃣ Controlled environment: Tests are conducted in supervised conditions to replicate real-life scenarios while minimizing risks. 4️⃣ Post-test evaluations: Analyze the structural integrity and performance of the lifeboat. These trials remind us of the critical importance of safety at sea and the incredible technology that helps protect lives in emergencies. A huge shoutout to the maritime industry for maintaining these rigorous standards! 🙌 💡 What’s your perspective on safety drills and tests? Have you ever participated in a lifeboat trial? #MaritimeSafety #SOLAS #LifeboatTesting #SafetyFirst #SeaTrials #EngineeringExcellence #MarineTechnology

A Blast from the Past: Navigating Brisbane Waters in the 1930s Dive into Queensland's maritime history with this vintage pilotage exemption questionnaire from 1930. Shared by Captain Peter Murday, a descendant of a proud Queensland pilot, this artifact offers a glimpse into the rigorous standards and extensive knowledge required by mariners of the past. How has navigation evolved since then? Has technology simplified the process, or has the increased complexity of regulations and safety standards made it even more challenging? Let's discuss! Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below. #maritimehistory #queensland #pilots #seafaring #nautical #brisbane #marineindustry #historybuff
