It was our privilege to co-sponsor this Skyline Education Foundation Australia event last week with our good friend Ivan Rados from Stellan Capital, which also featured CVS Lane Capital Partners board member The Hon. Julia Gillard AC as guest speaker. Thanks to those CVS Lane clients who attended the function and have donated to Skyline. Hearing the stories of these inspirational students was a wonderful reinforcement of Skyline’s mission to help talented young people overcome barriers and complete VCE. Supporting organisations like this can make a tangible difference, not just for individuals but in contributing to a more equitable society. FORD - GIVEBACK & GROW (Data Upskilling the Next Generation) The only real security that a man will have in this world is a reserve of knowledge, experience, and ability” – Henry Ford As we navigate the complexities of the digital age, it's clear that data is the new currency. But are we equipping the next generation of workers with the skills they need to thrive in a data-driven world? The answer is, not yet. According to a recent report, 75% of organizations struggle to recruit and retain talent with the necessary data skills. This skills gap not only hinders business growth but also limits the potential of our future workforce. Employers want the right Soft and Hard skills. This example from Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and Ford Foundation hits the bullseye putting students through real-world experiences. #FordPhilanthropy #Innovation #DataDriven #DataSkills #Upskilling #FutureOfWork #NextGeneration #LifelongLearning #DataLiteracy #CareerDevelopment #BusinessGrowth
See how students are mastering data-driven skills that will shape the future of innovation 👇 We're committed to supporting the communities where we live and work, which is why we're proud partners with Liverpool Life Sciences UTC! Empowering the next generation is a key element of the work of Ford Philanthropy, who had recently pledged a £1M community investment in partnership with GlobalGiving, to support the community of the Halewood Plant and the wider Liverpool city region. Our partnership with Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and the Studio School has enabled students with valuable project-based learning experiences. Watch how students are using real-world data to transform the future of innovation. Are you a non-profit based in Halewood or Knowsley? Advanced technologies are shaping a new landscape, and the challenge is real- bridging the skills gap between the emerging workforce and the demands of a new era of advanced manufacturing. Recent reports suggest the UK has a pressing need to address skills shortages in tech and industrial sectors. Earlier this year, Ford Philanthropy, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, in partnership with GlobalGiving kicked off a £1 million community investment to supercharge Halewood and the wider Liverpool city region. This investment is all about expanding access to essential services and empowering young people for the future world of work. Take a look at the students at Liverpool Life Sciences UTC diving deep into project-based learning with Power BI, using real-world data from the plant. Their interactive data dashboards are a game-changer, making a head-start on the future of data-driven decision-making in the auto industry. Also, if you are a Knowsley or Halewood based non-profit in search of partnerships, Ford Philanthropy have just opened its grant applications. Take the leap to transform your communities: https://lnkd.in/eFsxy9Sw #skillgaps #liverpool #innovation #datascience #philanthropy #community #futureofwork #automotive

Issue 28 is here! What influences young people’s #aspirations? What ‘capital’ do they need to aspire? Arts Emergency CEO and co-founder Neil Griffiths tells us how the UK-based charity is helping young people to expand their #cultural capital. Professor Louise Archer, who has led the ASPIRES project, is investigating the importance of young people’s #science capital. And Amie Kirby, a member of Arts Emergency’s Youth Collective, highlights the importance of seeking help from others. Build your capital, aspire and find support. We absolutely LOVE to see our clients thriving, and when The Jack Petchey Foundation told us they'd been able to pull a report, rather than sitting and going through 20 years of reports 🤯 on Salesforce, we smiled. The team wanted to recognise volunteers who had gone (more than) the extra mile, and went into Salesforce to pull a VERY special report... take a read here to be inspired: https://buff.ly/3W0R5QV #salesforce #Salesforceforfoundations #Foundations #salesforce #timesaved #salesforceimpact #salesforcenonprofit #impact #fundraising #impactfultech #salesforcenpc #nonprofitcloud #grantmaking #grantmakers #foundations #grants #salesforce #technology #foundationtechnology #tech #grantmakerstories

So good to be part of the #festivaloflearning today alongside Kiran from Women's Resource Centre, talking about approaches to systems change, what we’re learning about funding it, and some of the big challenges we’re seeing at the moment. Really good questions from the group around what you’re investing when you fund systemic change. Often the answer is that you’re investing in *time*. Time for exploring and unearthing issues, power dynamics, and the structures creating the issue. And loads of great examples of organisations doing it in practice shared by Kiran.
With Day 4 of #FestivalofLearning over, we're here to recap on the day and share some of the key learning 🧠 A big thank you to Local Trust, Women's Resource Centre, Renaisi, Co-op Foundation, City Bridge Foundation, I.G. Advisors and Pilgrim Trust for the great sessions hosted today. Some key learning from today: - “Learning by doing and learning by spending” – Local Trust shared what they’ve learnt from building community power across their Big Local programme, which began in 2010 as a bold experiment: putting money directly into the hands of communities who had previously missed on Lottery funding and other types of investments. We heard that when local residents are given control over how money is distributed in their area, existing structural power imbalances are “made visible and become negotiable”. - Incorporating learning in our organisations – during our in-person workshop with I.G. Advisors, we spoke to members about the challenges and opportunities for facilitating learning within our organisations as well as with other funders and grantees. We heard that despite organisations having a desire to make space for learning, limited capacity makes this difficult and learning is often viewed as a ‘nice to have’ rather than an essential part of how we work. Members found that having a clear purpose for the learning and building proper structures to facilitate it worked well and meant their teams prioritised it. Tomorrow we have more sessions from friends and funders, Islington Giving, Richmond Parish Lands Charity, London Youth, Impact on Urban Health, Berkeley Foundation and others - with topics ranging from approaches to ethical fundraising policies, place-based approaches to tackling homelessness and more. London Funders' members can sign up and view our full programme here: https://lnkd.in/emY5R29N

Did you know?! The Government of British Columbia has announced it will support the costs of building 16 new affordable rental housing projects across Metro Vancouver. All of these projects combined will generate 1,954 affordable rental homes. These projects are being funded through the third round of the provincial government's Building BC: Community Housing Fund (CHF). The fund is open to non-profit organizations, housing co-operatives, municipal governments and First Nations. If you want to know more about how this could impact you buying or selling a home, I’d like the opportunity to explain further. ☎️ 604-512-8904 ✉️ camille@adamlloyd.ca #thursdaythoughts #thursdaymood #thursdaygrind #successmindset #hustle #entrepreneurship #homesweethome #house #home #property #realestate #camilleszpic #everythingitouchturnstosold #realestateagent #realtor #realestatebroker #stonehaus #realty #adamlloydhomesellingteam #alhst #fraservalleyrealestate #greatervancouverrealestate
