Excited to share the energy and insights from the official launch of Brightlands Circular Space in Sittard-Geleen! In this opening program, Marc Spekreijse had the opportunity to lead one of the opening interviews. Supported by the Nationaal Groeifonds this initiative will help bright minds and entrepreneurs leverage the open infrastructure. The new facilities are designed to host parties who are able to increase the quantity and improve the quality of circular plastics by upscaling technologies and is provided by Brightlands Chemelot Campus , TNO and Universiteit Maastricht. As Lia Voermans of BCS, highlighted: "This is only the first stage. Our mission goes beyond recycling tech, it’s about transforming ecosystems, building new business models, and shifting consumer and industry behavior. The momentum we created today is only the beginning." 🚀 Conference insight "Social topics in the European battery recycling industry" was the motto of an incredibly successfull workshop during the Life Cycle Innovation Conference (LCIC) in Berlin, Germany this week. Martina Zimek and Katharina B. made the most of this opportunity to consult with various experts from the battery end-of-life value chain. Together, they identified and prioritized different social impact categories - a crucial step in establishing a foundation for the social life cycle impact assessment using the social hotspot database. 💡 Moreover, our delegation from the University of Graz, backed by the Christian Doppler Forschungsgesellschaft CDG and the EU Horizon project FREE4LIB, capitalized on this opportunity to expand their knowledge of product circularity, using the material circularity indicator. When your dishwasher breaks, what’s your first move? Throw it away, recycle it, or repair? What if you could scan a QR code and find out all the information you need to fix it? The CircThread Project EU is addressing this with the implementation of #DigitalProductPassport system to promote the #circulareconomy through repair over disposal Last week Irish Manufacturing Research was in Porto working on the CircThread project at it's 6th General Assembly. 🤩MATR joins the Verband Österreichischer Entsorgungsbetriebe (VOEB) network! Last month our CEO Verena Judmayer attended the VOEB Focus Group Innovation event. Many thanks again for the invitation Andreas Opelt and Alina Zechmeister. And… we’re really excited to announce that we are the first start up officially joining the Voeb network! As a young and local company, we'll get to network and engage with experts in the waste industry and accelerate the transition to the circular economy together. 👀Interested in finding out more about what VOEB stands for? Check out our highlights from the inspiring event below to get some insights: 📌 Andreas Lederer talked about the opportunities and challenges of AI and showed how generative AI can make everyday life easier, e.g. through automatic meeting minutes and personalised marketing campaigns. To find meaningful use cases, 3 questions are enough: What do I do all day long? What costs time? What doesn't work? 📌 Robert Großekathöferöfer talked about the solution from Schüttflix, a platform for the supply and disposal of bulk materials on construction sites. A great example of the #circulareconomy in practice - be sure to check them out! 📌 Our very own Verena presented MATR and our circular economy mattress solution for hotels. Many exciting questions about the average utilisation time of mattresses, current disposal methods and the future development of recyclates were discussed.
