Besides the fun element of #SportsDay, being our first-ever big sports event, we saw it as an opportunity to address a few cultural areas that needed development. By viewing the Sports Day through a #Learning and #Engagement lens, we thoughtfully designed a few key elements to ensure it was both meaningful and impactful, while still keeping the fun part. To give context, we recently introduced our new #CoreValues, which served as guiding principles in designing the event and bringing them to life in action. --Team captains were mostly chosen from non-leadership roles, giving them a chance to lead, take decisions, and showcase their potential in a safe environment, reminding everyone that #Leadership can come from anywhere and isn’t tied to titles. --Participants could play in as many sports as they wanted, helping their teammates in games they’d never tried before creating an opportunity to step out of their comfort zones and discover talents they didn’t know they had. --The scoring system was designed to encourage #Teamwork across all sports. It wasn’t about individual wins but the collective performance of the team. You play your game, then cheer and support your teammates, thinking from a “Team above Self” perspective and focusing on the team as a whole, not just your own sport. --Teams were a mix of colleagues from different departments, bringing together people who had never met or worked together before. It was a great opportunity to build new connections and strengthen collaboration across departments. So, Sports Day became more than just a fun event! A big thank you to the design team and everyone who participated and brought energy to the day. The real trophy was seeing the champion spirit, teamwork, and unity in action. My strategy to keep youth football teams motivated and united during the tours: - 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: I involve players and coaches in the planning, ensuring that everyone feels part of the process and excited about the trip. - 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: I organise specific activities outside of football to strengthen team bonds and foster cooperation. - 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗻: I integrate cultural visits and fun moments for the players to appreciate the experience beyond the sport. - 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸: At the end of each day, we spend time reflecting on what we have learned, sharing experiences and feedback. - 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: We recognise and celebrate individual and team achievements, big or small, reinforcing self-esteem and a sense of achievement. The key is not just to play football, but to have experiences that enrich both personally and in sport. I practice what I preach, creating tours that leave an impression on young athletes beyond the field of play.

The sportsmanship spirit is contagious in our HK Branch office! The Table Tennis station in our office social hub gets together our employees for blood pumping and endorphins spurring during lunch break and post-work play! Colleagues would gather as groups to enjoy the ping-pong practices, mini-competitions, or simply as the audience during their work breaks. Some new “ping-pong friendships” have built among those from different Departments and cultural backgrounds. Sports brings people together! No matter how hectic the daily work is, the sound of ping-pong, laughter and cheers around the Table Tennis station recharged everyone with happy and enthusiastic energy, which is essential for upkeeping our better work efficiency and morale when going back to our workspace.
