Exciting news from Denmark! On Monday the Danish government officially launched its largest offshore wind tender in the country’s history, with the aim of ensuring that Denmark achieves its climate goals, while also becoming an exporter of green power. Set to be completed by 2030, the wind farms are crucial to ensure that Denmark meets its target to reduce CO2 emissions by 70 per cent from 1990 levels by the end of this decade. “Denmark is one large step closer to becoming Europe’s green powerhouse” said Lars Aagaard Minister for Climate, Energy, and Utilities. The government has made available six sites and it will be possible to construct at least 6 GW with a maximum capacity of 10 GW or even more. Once completed, these wind parks also enable Denmark to produce more green electricity than domestically required, which means that Denmark can potentially support fellow European countries meet their green targets. This could involve, for example, the generation and exportation of eco-friendly fuels for aviation and shipping through power-to-X methods. This announcement comes at a time when Energy Cluster Denmark with the support of IIT Madras Research Park (IITMRP), ICDK Bangalore and The Trade Council of Denmark in South Asia is working on the INNOWIND project. INNOWIND aims to facilitate a cluster-to-cluster connection with the overall focus on identifying and facilitating opportunities for collaboration on Offshore Wind (OFW) development in India in close collaboration with an experienced Danish OFW industry, thereby supporting the development of the Indian OFW industry. In October last year, Denmark announced the Wind Alliance India (WAI), a strategic initiative to drive innovation, knowledge exchange, and investments to propel the growth of wind energy in India. Leading Danish and Indian organisations joined the alliance along with the Embassy of Denmark in India, demonstrating the Green Strategic Partnership (GSP) in action. This latest announcement by the Danish government only helps to establish Denmark's forefront position in renewable energy and represents a noteworthy achievement on our path toward sustainability. #MOROCCO OFFERS #LAND AND #INCENTIVES TO #INVESTORS INTEGRATING THE #PRODUCTION OF #RENEWABLE #ELECTRICITY AND #GREEN #HYDROGEN The #Moroccan government said on Monday 11th March, it will allocate 1 #million #hectares to green #hydrogen #projects, starting with 300,000 hectares in a first phase, as part of an offer to attract investors. Green #hydrogen, produced by #splitting #water through #electrolysis using renewable energy, is expected to play a key role in #decarbonising #industries. The initiative would help Morocco "play a major role in the field of energy transition globally," the prime minister's office said in a statement. #Morocco's offer applies to integrated projects covering #electricity #generation from #renewable energies and #electrolysis, to the conversion of green #hydrogen into #ammonia, #methanol and #synthetic #fuel, it said. It also includes #incentives to #investors, the statement said, without offering details. The offtake would be both for #export and for #domestic use, it said. Some 100 #investors have already #expressed #interest in producing green #hydrogen in #Morocco, which has ambitions to capitalise on abundant sun and wind to accelerate its energy transition.

  A week before last our Trade Advisor Suresh Mugalivakam Subramaniam headed to Denmark to have discussions with the energy companies. The visit saw a productive schedule with Denmark businesses showing an exciting interest in the Indian market. The platform seeks to not only influence policy decisions but also to tackle industry challenges collectively.   With a population of 1.4 billion, India has a massive demand for energy to fuel its rapidly growing economy. India's commendable strides in renewable energy, particularly in wind power, have not gone unnoticed. As of January 2024, India boasts the fourth-highest wind installed capacity globally, totalling an impressive 44,969 megawatts. However, with ambitious goals set in motion, including the target of achieving 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030, the need for strategic partnerships and collaborations with global leaders like Denmark has never been more pressing. Through concerted efforts and shared vision.   Wind Alliance India (WAI), an initiative spearheaded by The Trade Council, brings together Danish industries and stakeholders operating within wind energy in India. The alliance is uniquely positioned to foster a dynamic ecosystem that drives the growth and adoption of wind energy solutions in India. South Africa’s Green Hydrogen Projects Attract R800 Billion In Investments By 2024 Public Works and Infrastructure Deputy Minister Sihle Zikalala announced that South Africa’s Green Hydrogen National Programme (GHNP) has drawn projects worth over R800 billion since its inclusion in the Strategic Integrated Projects (SIPs) in 2022. Speaking at the Green Hydrogen Devac conference in Sandton, Johannesburg, Zikalala highlighted that about 20% of these investments are now at the bankable feasibility stage. This project aims to build 1GW of onshore wind and solar capacity to power the production of green hydrogen through the electrolysis of desalinated seawater. The green hydrogen will be converted into 200,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year for the European market. A preliminary contract for the land reservation for the ‘Chbika’ project was signed between the government of the Kingdom of Morocco and TE H2, along with its partners.
