The Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) in Mexico is facing significant challenges that threaten aviation safety. Documents reveal that the agency has not been able to carry out its annual verification program due to lack of funding and personnel. These deficiencies have contributed to the recent downgrade of Mexico's air safety rating to category 2 by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The government's management report highlights the agency's inability to conduct technical-administrative verifications, citing limitations in human resources. This is concerning because these verifications are crucial in ensuring the safety of air operations and passengers. Additionally, in the past two years, the agency has scheduled 106 safety checks but only managed to carry out 24. Lack of personnel and budgetary constraints are major factors contributing to the nonconformities identified by the FAA. The current director of the agency, General Enrique Vallín, has emphasized the need for 4 billion pesos and the hiring of 4,000 employees to meet international standards and fulfill the agency's functions. IFATCA at ICAO Ms Cheryl YenChun Chen, EVP ASP attended the Regional Aviation Safety Monitoring Advisory Group meeting at ICAO APAC office, Bangkok August 19th- 22nd. Several regional aviation safety Hot Spots were monitored and mitigations discussed. With the hard work of ATCs of the region, the overall aviation safety risk is below alerting level. However, the coordination errors between ATCs from different FIRs due to human factors remain the largest contributing factors to these safety hot spots. As the implementation of supportive communication and surveillance equipment has shown significant improvements of these coordination errors, IFATCA has urged ICAO APAC member states to prioritize the implementation of these supportive techniques such as AIDC and Space ADS-B surveillance system to better assist the work of ATCOs and improve the safety of the airspace. https://lnkd.in/d7g9Bfeg International Civil Aviation Organization https://lnkd.in/d_FkkhPA

✈️ The Importance of Pre-Flight Checks in Aviation Safety and Security 🛫 - In Aviation, pre-flights checks are official in ensuring not just the operational efficiency of an aircraft, but also the safety and security of all passengers and the crew onboard. - Before takeoff, a thorough inspection is conducted to verify the aircraft's equipment, emergency systems, and security protocols are in place and fully functional. 🛠️🔧 This is not only ensuring the aircraft's readiness, but also safeguarding against potential security risks that could compromise the flight's safety.🚨 - Wether it's inspecting emergency exits, verifying security protocols, or confirming communication systems, these checks are essential in upholding the industry standards set by ICAO, IATA and other governing bodies. The goal is simple🤷. Prevention is always better that dealing with an emergency... #Safety first ✊ #Aviation safety 🦺 #Persenger's Safety💪 #Aviation industry #Airline security #Pre-flight checks #Aviation security #Training. #Safety first.
