🤦🏽 It is regrettable that there are still medical colleagues with archaic arguments from the 1970s about the molecules of the sacred plant. 🇪🇸 At the symposium of the International Cannabinoid Research Society #ICRS2024 held in Salamanca, Spain, I had the opportunity to ask Dr. Javier Fernández-Ruiz, who has a PhD in biochemistry, his opinion about this doctor's arguments. 🧠 In addition to his teaching activities in the fields of Neurochemistry and Neurobiology, both at undergraduate and master's levels, he has been working for the last 39 years on various diseases of the central nervous system, having published 242 research articles and 44 review articles in international journals (H-index=69), 42 chapters in national and international books, and 8 international patents. 🫡 Science always seeks the truth; it is not something that should be used to reinforce moralistic and biased positions in search of views. 😬 #health #medicine #costarica #atrophy #brain #DrHernandez #science #mentalhealth #DrCarlos

🎥 Meet Dr. Aude Chiot: Advancing ALS Research 🌍 Introducing Dr. Aude Chiot, a dedicated post-doctoral researcher originally from France. Dr. Chiot began her journey with ALS research during her PhD and is continuing her important work at Oregon Health and Science University. Her research focuses on exploring how inflammation in the brain and spinal column affects ALS patients and investigating how reducing this inflammation can protect motor neurons and slow disease progression. At Target ALS, we are proud to support researchers like Dr. Chiot who bring unique insights and drive innovation in the fight against ALS. #ALSResearch #TargetALS #ScientificInnovation #Neuroscience #GlobalReach #EndALS

☑️ *READ ABSTRACT BELOW:* Part 2: The 'semi-guided' protocol presented here has shorter induction and differentiation steps with less-specific patterning molecules than most guided protocols but maintains the use of neurotrophic factors such as brain-derived growth factor and neurotrophin-3, unlike unguided approaches. This approach yields the cell type diversity of unguided approaches while maintaining reproducibility for disease modeling. Importantly, we characterized the electrophysiology of these organoids and found that they recapitulate the maturation of neural oscillations observed in the developing human brain, a feature not shown with other approaches. This protocol represents the potential first steps toward bridging molecular and cellular biology to human cognition, and it has already been used to discover underlying features of human brain development, evolution and neurological conditions. Experienced cell culture technicians can expect the protocol to take 1 month, with extended maturation, electrophysiology recording, and adeno-associated virus transduction procedure options. We're exploring future directions in compassion science! Lynne Reeder Adjunct Research Fellow at Federation University Australia is researching the understanding of the neurobiology of compassion and its application in every area of human endeavour and will remain an important evidence-based research undertaking well into the future. Compassion science examines what motivates humans to care for one another. It gathers evidence of the incentives for compassion and its effect on our physiology, including the connections between human well-being and compassion training interventions. What sets this field apart is the unique perspective it brings. Importantly, this new science conceptualises compassion as a motivation that, in evolutionary terms, organised human attention, thoughts, feelings, and actions in very different and more constructive ways to other human motivations such as fear or revenge.🔬💙 Learn more about our findings here: https://bit.ly/3WcW1UC #FedUni #research #compassionscience
