The 1st PLATINA4Action Stage Event that took place on the 6th November 2024 in Brussels set the ground with its insightful and informative discussions for the upcoming Platina4Action Event: the ''Second Technology Transfer Workshop on the Greening of the Inland Waterway Fleet in Belgium and France'' that will take place on 4th of December 2024 in Antwerp. Key takeaways of the 1st PLATINA4Action Stage Event on Greening the IWT fleet: - Greening the fleet of the inland waterway transport sector is one of the main challenges/opportunities of the sector. - The sector is commited to move forward. This is the reason why we need funding, for the deployment of innovation, which is a failure point for adopting new technologies. - Decarbonising emissions has to be done via both retrofit vessels and investing in new vessels. - Collaboration among vessel operators, authorities and innovators is needed to decarbonise the fleet. - Greening is not a technological issue but a political issue. - Don't wait too long to adopt new technologies. - Ensure that small vessel owners can follow-up. Participants can still register for the Workshop: https://lnkd.in/eiNwXs6p See you All there (in person or online)! #greening #greenertransport #reducingemissions #IWT #inlandwaterways #energyefficiency #EU #workingtogetherforgreenertrasport

#PORTprojects We are happy to announce that the Port of Hamburg Marketing project department successfully applied for two new funding projects, supporting the energy transition and circularity in ports! The new projects directly support the implementation of aims set in the recently updated port development plan. Natuarlly, the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) is one of the partners involved in project implementation. 💧 #H2Derivatives@BalticSea Ports will increase the capacity of port authorities and helps to build stronger cooperation to jointly develop proof-of concepts for the uptake of H2 Derivatives fuels and by that demonstrates a pathway to the successful transition towards zero emission in energy supply and shipping. There is e.g. a need for H2-Derivative market forecasts, techno-economic models to decide on investments, suitable bunkering equipment and berth mappings. The port transformation requires adapted port regulations including safety manuals for handling, and suitable bunkering technology. 🔄 #CircularPorts aims to lift circular economy synergies & provides transferable solutions to deploy circular economy (CE) in Baltic Sea Region port environments, presented in a toolbox that contains: - A methodology for data collection, -mining, & -visualisation on waste-/material flows in port environments to provide a basis for CE strategy implementation. - Functional stakeholder platforms to find symbioses between enterprises. - Business models based on CE-strategies to motivate replicators to scale-up solutions. - Procurement guidelines considering CE #CircularPorts and #H2Deri@BSP are #MadeWithInterreg and funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme. 🤝 Thank you to all partners of both projects! In the H2Deri@BSP project we'll be working tirelessly to bridge the knowledge gap in handling hydrogen derivatives like methanol and ammonia at seaports. 🌍🔋Our goal? To empower port authorities, terminal operators, maritime fuel providers, and energy suppliers with the tools and strategies we need to accelerate the transition to low- or zero-carbon fuels. Klaipėdos uostas/Port of Klaipėda joins forces with nine ports and partners on a transformative journey towards reducing CO2 emissions and combating climate change across Baltic Sea Region 🌊🔗 #portofKlaipeda #SustainableShipping #BalticSeaRegion #PORTprojects #Methanol #Hydrogen #ZeroCarbon #ClimateAction #GreenDeal #BalticSeaPorts #Partnership #FundingSuccesst Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V.

In the global push for environmental #sustainability, researchers and #logistics experts are collaborating to develop sustainable logistics strategies. Aleksandrs Kotļars, Business Development Manager at CEVA, is involved, as a researcher, in the TRANS4ECO project— “Development of a model for implementation of sustainable last-mile distribution transportation services in Latvia”— at Rīgas Tehniskā universitāte (Riga Technical University), which is financially supported by the Latvian Science Council. The project focuses on implementing low-carbon last-mile distribution services in Latvia and creating a model for selecting sustainable logistics providers. #CEVALogistics

Meo Carbon Solutions is proud to announce that we are officially kicking off the CLEVER project, which aims to transform the way greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are calculated in the transportation sector. We are partnering with an international consortium of experts and stakeholders to address the challenge of establishing credible and standardized emission factors for all transport modes, fuels and production methods. The CLEVER project will create a comprehensive methodology covering the entire energy lifecycle—from production to end use. The project's framework will ensure consistency in calculating emissions for new energy sources, adaptability to industry changes and accurate and quantifiable emissions data for both policy and business purposes. Meo's role is to support the project with our expert knowledge and long-term experience in GHG emission calculations and developing and managing sustainability certification schemes for different markets. This is a significant step toward a sustainable, environmentally conscious transportation sector. Stay tuned for more updates! #Sustainability #EmissionReduction #GreenTransport #EmissionFactors

Very much enjoyed participating in the Green Fuels Talk at NCE Maritime CleanTech Cleantech’s Innovation Workshop on tech barriers today! Green ammonia is an important part of the energy mix required to decarbonise the maritime sector. Norway has a very good basis to become a leading producer of green ammonia and harvesting first mover advantages, and there is an urgent need for policy development to lead and drive the change to green. Important discussions on safety, market development and the need for government support.
