🌱 Unlocking sustainable finance to achieve Europe’s Digital Decade targets Connect Europe, ecta (european competitive telecommunications association), Ericsson, GSMA and Nokia have joined efforts to develop a unified position on the EU Taxonomy.   Telecommunication networks form the backbone of Europe’s economy, playing a crucial role in connecting people and businesses while supporting the EU’s ambitions for climate neutrality and digital leadership. However, networks are not considered to be a Taxonomy elegible activity yet.    The telecom sector call for the inclusion of electronic communication networks in the EU Taxonomy framework to unlock sustainable financing, guide investment, and ensure that the infrastructure continues to underpin the decarbonisation of Europe’s economy. 👉 Click here if you want to know more: https://lnkd.in/dT9MDXAR

The EU Taxonomy framework can play an important role in helping to achieve the EU’s Digital Decade targets. Based on robust and science-based criteria, the taxonomy can become a key tool to help guide investment activities by the telecommunication sector and Member States to align with the EU's climate targets.

A key priority is transparent, rights-based Digital Public Infrastructure (#DPI) that are "secure and interoperable, built on open technologies, to deliver equitable access to public and/or private services at a societal scale".
