In two years the Emergency Service Challenge has raised £30,284 for charity! This year, in climbing Kilimanjaro, the team raised £10,073 and last year the team climbed to Mount Everest Base Camp and raised £20,011. Today is the International Day of Charity – a fantastic opportunity to recognise the amazing work carried out by charitable organisations around the world, and to make a donation if you can. We know there are lots of charities to choose from, but here’s why we’d love you to choose RAPAID: 👉 A casualty can tragically bleed to death within just three to five minutes, often before the emergency services have time to arrive. By equipping cabs with life-saving bandages, RAPAID empowers ordinary people to flag down the vital resources they need to #stopthebleed within those first, critical minutes following an injury. 👉 RAPAID's focus is on stopping the bleed. Your funding helps us extend our mission far and wide, ensuring that emergency bandage kits are accessible in a variety of public places – from schools and taxis to workplaces and other venues. By supporting RAPAID, you're contributing to building a resilient community where people are equipped to help each other in times of crisis. Together, we’re creating a safer UK, one kit at a time. We're in a deficit; how does that impact you? Unfortunately, the 24/7 essential expansions we have made to our service mean that we need to raise even more funds than before to keep our life-saving service running. The frightening truth is that for 2024 we are predicting to run at a deficit. This means we will have to go into our limited reserves just to keep the charity flying this year. We strongly believe every person in our service area should have access to our advanced pre-hospital care, no matter what the time of day is - that's why it's incredibly important to sustain our 24/7 service. We rely on your kind donations to save lives. Help our charity during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis: gna.as/appeal247 #Charity #AirAmbulance

One of the often overlooked consequences of a cost-of-living crisis is the impact on charities. When people have less, they have less to give. There are 27,000 registered charities in Aotearoa, many of which provide life-changing services to our society's most vulnerable. As discussed in this RNZ piece, too many are now struggling to make ends meet. To all those currently working in the charity/non-profit sector- you are not invisible. Thank you for all that you do. https://lnkd.in/gUcC9r6e

To mark ‘Giving Tuesday’, a global day of generosity, the Fundraising Regulator, Charity Commission for England and Wales and Action Fraud join forces to remind people how to give with confidence. The campaign comes at the start of the festive season, during which people across the UK are more likely to donate to charity than in the rest of the year. A recent study by the Charities Aid Foundation found that 67 per cent of people in the UK had donated money to charitable causes in the past month. Last year, charities’ overall income amounted to £90.5bn, enabling them to deliver crucial services and assistance to individuals and communities, invest in medical research and campaign against inequalities, to name just a few causes. https://lnkd.in/eBdcyxkV

For World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, here are some startling #trends about #humantrafficking and #moderslavery in the UK from today's webinar with Unseen UK's Frontline and Helpline teams. ⭐⭐⭐CURRENT TRENDS IN TRAFFICKING⭐⭐⭐ ⚡ Unseen has reported a significant increase in the exploitation of #underageyouth across the U.K. Latest data shows a troubling rise in various forms of exploitation, including #domesticservitude, #criminalexploitation, and #sexualexploitation. Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline: The helpline saw a 19% increase in calls in 2023, with a total of 11,700 calls compared to 9,779 in 2022. This surge reflects a higher number of identified potential victims, particularly among underage individuals (Unseen). County Lines Exploitation: A significant number of children are being exploited through county lines operations, where criminal gangs use minors to transport and sell drugs. Unseen's #LikesToLines campaign highlights that at least 27,000 children are believed to be involved in county lines across the UK (Unseen). Forms of Exploitation: There has been a notable increase in cases of child sexual exploitation and online grooming. Reports indicate a 10% rise in child sexual exploitation crimes within the last year, with online grooming crimes increasing by 82% over the past five years (Unseen). ⚡ ⅓ of calls to Unseen are from members of the public concerned about exploitation, including: physical abuse, not being paid properly by employers (exploiters), tension with and fear of employer (potential exploiter), or living arrangements being tied to employment. ⚡ The greatest number of helpline calls are from #labour exploitation in the workforce. In 2023, for the first time, cases of exploitation were predominantly in the #CareSector. Before that it was traditionally in the #ServiceIndustry. ⭐⭐Unseen run the free, 24/7, confidential national Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline open to everyone (08000 121 700). ⭐⭐ Thank you Alice Dutton, Lauren Saunders, Natasha Mitra and Unseen's anonymous Case Worker for this important discussion! #humantrafficking #modernslavery #stoptrafficking #humanrights #WorldDayAgainstTraffickinginPersons

CCare Changes People Lives. What a Fantastic Charity! CCare has without doubt become one of Melbourne’s biggest and best Jewish charities. Rabbi Shlomo Nathanson (Toorak and Port Melbourne synagogues) started CCare about 10 years ago delivering a few meals a week to Jews living in poverty. The average non Jew believes ALL Jews are rich. That is not correct. You will be shocked to know that about 30% live in poverty! All this week their huge Annual Campaign takes place where EVERY donation will be tripled by sponsors. CCare has some fantastic sponsors, some of the richest people in Australia. Donate $100 and you will be donating $400! CCare delivers 832 meals every week, delivers 1,088 pantry boxes a month and on average has 184 volunteers a week. Fanatstic. As a CCare ambassador, I am so happy to volunteer from time to time and make my annual significant donation. If you would like to donate and change people’s lives go the CCare web site next week and make a donation (whatever you can afford) and your donation will be tripled. Long Live CCare. What a fantastic organization and what a great success story! Lets hope it continues for many years to come. #Finance Manager #Profitability Outcomes #Business Growth #Cost Savings #Cash Flow Boosts # KPI’s Achievement #Reduction of Debt # Money Savings via Automation

You know how to make a difference Briggs Equipment UK Ltd! That’s why the NSPCC wants to become your next charity partner. By working together, we can make a real difference by raising the vital funds needed to stop child abuse, which half a million children in the UK suffer each year. Just imagine, your support could help enable the NSPCC to answer the calls made to Childline - one child calls us every 45 seconds! These calls really do make a difference to the children who call us. What we ask of the team at Briggs Equipment UK, is that you vote for the NSPCC to be your charity of the year, resulting in you leaving a legacy for children in the UK. You can support the NSPCC too by sharing this post with your Briggs Equipment UK colleagues and contacts. Thanks. #MakeADifference #CharityOfTheYear #NSPCC

Doing some "behind the scenes" charity governance work today. Working to support a small autism charity in applying for grant funding (to deliver post-diagnostic support courses for autistic adults), which is a real challenge for many charities. In this case, they need to apply to one grant funder to cover project development costs, and to a separate grant funder to cover project delivery costs. And it all takes time. And energy. And a certain amount of expertise and knowledge of how "the system" works. A real barrier for many charities. So far, I've invested about 6 hours in this, as has the key person at the charity. And we'll both be investing many more (unfunded) hours before we get anywhere near a point where the grant funding comes through #grantapplications #charitysector #governance #funding
