Reflecting on Dr. Jeff Miller's enlightening talk at the WISE Summit brings to mind a crucial question: What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of safety? 🤔 Safety can evoke various images and feelings, from the sight of a yellow safety vest to the presence of a dedicated safety officer. On a more personal level, it can encompass the reassuring sense of security we experience when we're with someone who makes us feel safe. During his insightful presentation, Jeff Miller delved into a topic that holds immense importance in the realm of workplace safety: the perception of leadership behavior. It's not just about ticking boxes on a checklist; it's about how employees perceive the actions and behaviors of their leaders. When employees associate safety with leadership that fosters a stable, respectful, and fair work environment, it's a significant indicator that the organization's leadership is on the right track. This perception is pivotal in shaping the culture of safety within an organization. So, let's consider this: How can we, as leaders and professionals, contribute to improving the perception of workplace safety in our companies? It starts with fostering a culture where safety isn't just a set of rules but a shared commitment to the well-being of everyone involved. It involves open communication, transparency, and leading by example. As we continue our journey in enhancing workplace safety, let's keep in mind that it's not just about compliance; it's about creating an environment where every individual feels valued, protected, and empowered. 💪🛡️ #WorkplaceSafety #LeadershipBehavior #SafetyCulture #WISESummit

🌟 Fostering a Strong Health and Safety Culture: Leading by Example 🌟 In today's fast-paced work environment, cultivating a robust health and safety culture is more crucial than ever. It’s not just about compliance; it’s about creating a workplace where everyone feels empowered to prioritize safety. One of the most effective ways to instill this culture is by leading by example. When leaders demonstrate their commitment to health and safety—whether it's wearing PPE, participating in safety drills, or openly discussing safety concerns—they set a powerful precedent. This behavior not only reinforces the importance of safety but also encourages team members to adopt similar practices. Equally important is the influence of peers. We often underestimate the impact that colleagues can have on one another. A supportive team environment where safety is discussed and prioritized can significantly enhance individual accountability. When employees see their peers taking safety seriously, it fosters a sense of shared responsibility and encourages everyone to look out for one another. Let’s remember: safety is a collective effort. By leading with integrity and supporting each other, we can create a culture where everyone feels safe and valued. How do you promote health and safety in your workplace? The Idea of the Day: Culture of safety : "According to keynote speaker Marcel Schwantes, promoting a culture of safety in the workplace can lead to increased productivity and innovation. Schwantes suggests that a sense of freedom, rather than fear, should be at the center of how employees operate. When employees feel safe and free to take risks, they are more likely to perform at their best and contribute to the success of the organization. Creating a culture of safety involves providing employees with the resources and support they need to feel confident in their work. This includes clear communication about safety protocols, ongoing training and development, and a commitment to addressing any concerns or issues that arise. By prioritizing safety and freedom in the workplace, organizations can foster an environment that supports the growth and success of their employees. What steps are you taking to promote a culture of safety in your organization? Share your thoughts in the comments below." #CultureOfSafety #WorkplaceSafety #EmployeeProductivity #Innovation

"Leading With Compliance" Workshop Series We believe compliance is more than a checklist—it’s the foundation of safety, quality, and trust that drives our success. This November, our General Director Vu Ta has hosted the "Leading With Compliance" workshop series, engaging field supervisors from the Head Office and all Branches. Through 7 workshops, we aim to create a welcoming and open forum where field supervisors can directly share their viewpoints with the General Director about critical compliance topics such as adhering to procedures, ensuring workplace safety, and maintaining quality standards. They’ve had the opportunity to highlight what’s working well, propose ideas for improvement and affirm their own commitment to compliance. The initiative does not stop at listening. It’s about action. Our Management Team will review the feedbacks to define and implement follow-up actions. The status of follow-up actions will also be regularly updated to field supervisors, demonstrating the company’s commitment to building a supportive, compliance-focused culture. Why this matters? 💡 Leadership in Action: Our General Director’s involvement showcases how leadership is directly connected to our daily operations, fostering trust and alignment. 💡 Employee Empowerment: These workshops give our field teams a voice, recognizing their expertise and contributions to shaping safer, higher-quality workplaces. 💡 Commitment to Change: Transparency in follow-up actions ensures accountability, reinforcing our shared commitment to safety and excellence. This initiative is not just a moment—it’s a movement toward continuous improvement. Together, we are shaping a safer, more resilient, and more collaborative future. #ComplianceCulture #SafetyFirst #QualityMatters #LeadershipInAction #ContinuousImprovement #StrongerTogether #TeamSchindler

Jimmy’s life was forever changed 19 years ago due to a workplace accident, which he openly admits was the result of failing to follow proper safety measures. Today, he’s on a mission to ensure others don't have to learn the hard way. Through his impactful presentations, Jimmy shares his personal journey and the critical importance of adhering to safety protocols. If you or your EHS teams are looking for an effective way to drive home the importance of safety and enhance your workplace culture, I highly recommend considering Jimmy as a speaker for your organisation.
