🌟 14+ m€ to celebrate the first year at Alice & Bob ! 🌟 What a remarkable journey it's been since I joined Alice & Bob a year ago! Today, I'm thrilled to share a milestone that’s not only a personal achievement but a landmark for the company: the largest quantum #research grant ever awarded by the Bpifrance. This €14+ million grant is a testament to the excellent #innovation we are pursuing in Alice & Bob and the French commitment to supporting companies pushing the boundaries of technology. Time to reflect: - I had a lot of fun building this ambitious #research project. It's not just about developing groundbreaking qubit designs and enhancing manufacturing processes; it's about accelerating the transition from research to product. Exactly the kind of pioneering work that drives me – turning complex challenges into trailblazing solutions. - I am particularly proud of yet another example of how #deeptech startup can leverage their excellence. It perfectly aligns with our strategic goals and places us at the forefront of global tech innovation. One of the biggest challenge of #innovation in #deeptech is alignment. It is easy to lose yourself in novel side-projects when you come from research. A deeptech startup needs to stay #focus. This project does exactly that. - I knew that joining Alice & Bob and the field of #quantum #computing was going to be a challenge of learning and I'm happy to look back and see the path traveled. Kuddos to the whole team for their strong support, and the community is very friendly and fun. But I have to say that this jump is something that I am particularly proud of: it confirms my appeal for continuous growth and innovation – qualities I believe are essential in today's dynamic tech landscape. There were some great sessions today at the Innovation Day event as part of Cambridge Tech Week. Thank you to the whole team for putting on such a wonderful event. There were many different things to take away from all of the talks, but these are two of the main things that jumped out for me:   We heard that, in the early stage of company formation, culture forms from behaviours of the founder - you only get one chance to do this and it is well known that cultural change is extremely tough to deliver. How many founders are thinking about how their behaviour and approach is shaping this at the early stages of their journey? However, it is a really important tool and is one of the things that early stage investors will look for as a pointer to success.   We also heard that it is important that Founders ensure that the innovation or idea that their company is based on can be formed in to the idea of a "product". When considering this product it is paramount that it addresses a need, where customers are willing to pay for it and, importantly, where there is a drive (an "urgency") which will drive the whole process. How many founders can put their hands on their hearts and say that they have considered this early in their development?   There was also some great networking and a chance to speak to a number of tech start-ups and early stage businesses. I left with a spring in my step and a feeling that even bigger and better businesses are going to come out of this great city.   It would be great to hear any other thoughts and ideas coming out from other attendees.   #CAMTECHWEEK

✨This month was all about scientific communication.✨ Through my years at ETH, I have learned about and been involved in many great scientific projects. Each project is centered around unlocking new knowledge, with the ultimate aim of improving society and enhancing people’s well-being. However, science alone cannot solve society’s most pressing needs. For a real impact, we must translate scientific findings into practical applications and public knowledge. 💡Good scientific communication is essential for successful translation. This topic is dear to my heart and it is a big reason why I love working at a startup. Startups are a unique force driving innovation by turning scientific discoveries into practical solutions that solve real-world problems. This month, I presented our work at optohive to a wide range of audiences – from experts in the field to those with no background in life sciences. My task is to explain the technology and the solution our product offers, concisely and clearly. 💡When I notice that someone doesn’t understand my explanation, it’s not their fault—it’s 👉🏽my responsibility to communicate more effectively👈🏽. It is all the more rewarding when I see that I’ve explained things clearly enough for people to not only understand what we do but also recognize how our product can solve their specific problems. The best outcome of successful communication is when people understand a concept so well that they can apply the knowledge to create new ways to use our product. Our solution is only a good solution if people can understand how it solves their problems through our communication. With every conversation, I learn more about effective communication. Communication happens between people, and there is no rigid structure we can adhere to. The best way to communicate is to adapt to each individual person. Still, some core principles have helped me shape the way I communicate complex scientific topics: 💬Start by explaining the problem and solution in one sentence to introduce the general topic… …then break it down into its components and guide people through it step by step. 💬Use visual aids that are intuitive and easy to follow. 💬Draw analogies to everyday life to make the topic more relatable. 💬Provide examples of how your product can solve specific problems. 💬Ask about the person’s background and their challenges, and brainstorm together to discover new applications for your product.
