The EPBD decrypted: a treasure chest of opportunities to accelerate building decarbonisation The recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (#EPBD) was formally adopted in April 2024 and published in the Official Journal of the EU on 8 May 2024. This paper by BPIE - Buildings Performance Institute Europe summarises what will be in the updated Directive, including a stronger role for One Stop Shops for building renovation: more recognition, better integration and a stronger role for OSSs (article 18). See from page 28: 👩🔧 Who is responsible for setting up one-stop-shops? 🗨 How are one-stop-shops rolled out and to whom are they addressed? 🕵♀️ What services should one-stop-shops provide? 🛠 What role should one-stop-shops play within the renovation ecosystem? https://lnkd.in/g2528WGq

EU Member States just adopted the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, a game-changer for #climateaction. We're proud to see our advocated measures, like driving building renovations and addressing Whole Life Carbon impact, included. Collaborating with policymakers, we're committed to a sustainable built environment in Europe and globally. More on the EPBD provisions and our reaction to the European Parliament vote in March: https://lnkd.in/dJy_KyX7 Let's keep pushing for a greener tomorrow! 🌿 #EPBD #Sustainability
Good news from Europe today with EU Member States in the Council adopting the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). This marks a crucial step towards accelerating #climateaction on buildings. Very happy to see that much of what World Green Building Council has advocated - such as measures to drive the renovation of Europe’s buildings and, for the first time, measures to address the Whole Life Carbon impact of buildings - has been included in the final text including . WorldGBC and the Europe Regional Network of GBCs and partners look forward to working with national and EU policymakers to implement the provisions of the EPBD and secure a sustainable built environment at the heart of Europe’s future. I am proud to have contributed to this work and eager to bring fresh perspectives to this important topic!!! While energy-saving initiatives have become a major focus, they can sometimes unintentionally compromise the quality of indoor air. By analyzing real data from multiple buildings, our research highlights the importance of monitoring air quality for healthier indoor environments.
I am very happy to announce that our recent study has been published in Energies MDPI)! 🌟 If you’re interested in real-time monitoring of indoor environmental quality in residential buildings using LoRaWAN technology, check out the article here: https://lnkd.in/d5SjfgaG Thank you for being a part of it, Boniface Mselle, Victor Ballestin Trenado and Jose Ignacio Gutiérrez Galindo #IndoorAirQuality #LoRaWAN #SmartBuildings #EnergyEfficiency #MDPI #EnergiesJournal

Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) The main objectives of the revision are that by 2030 all new buildings should be zero-emission buildings, and that by 2050 existing building stock should be transformed into zero-emission buildings… Fit for 55 refers to the EU’s target of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030.
🇪🇺 We are delighted to share that the EPBD was successfully adopted in the European Parliament today in Strasbourg. 👥 "Implemented properly, this directive will deliver multiple benefits for people, businesses, and building occupants!" - Adrian Joyce 🏡 This marks a significant stride toward an energy-efficient future for Europe’s buildings. It is time we transform Europe's built environment and create lasting positive impacts. #acceleraterenovation #prioritisepeople #energyefficiency

📃 Announcement The revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) will now be signed and published in the Official Journal of the EU. This updated directive includes a broadened exemption to the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) requirements for “officially protected buildings” to now also “other heritage buildings”. EHH advocated alongside friendly Members of European Parliament and partners to ensure that this extended exemption was approved to preserve private historic houses and help their owners. This is a monumental step for associations of private heritage buildings, such as historic houses, as this exemption can give some leeway to historic house owners regarding energy-related renovations that are sometimes not feasible. 🏰 The Member States have two years to include this directive into their national legislation. #europeanhistorichouses #culturalheritagepreservation #historichouses #sustainabledevelopment
