As we stand on the brink of a new era in #rail operations, digitization promises to #reinvent the way we think about transportation infrastructure. During my keynote address at #InnoTrans 2024 and panel discussion with leading industry experts Devina Pasta, Antonio Brunacci Lara Esposito, Marcus Voelcker, we explored the key drivers behind this transformation of rail operations, highlighting how a smarter use of already existing rail technologies can help rail companies navigate current trends. Too often, digitization and automation projects miss the human factor with regards to new capabilities and impacts on the workforce. Furthermore, silos and outdated processes hinder collaboration and obstruct seamless operations. Missed the discussion? Let me know your comments and contact me, if you want to discuss more.

Transport & Logistics M.E. Future-Proof Technologies Conference moderator and industry thought-leader Lars Jensen began Session 2 of the #conference by asking panellists how #technology could be used to #futureproof the #supplychain in terms of large-scale #disruptions, #sustainability and #fragmentation? Director of Portwise, Dr. Yvo Saanen said that the #disruptions of the last five years had led to a rethink in terms of #resilience and #futureproofing of the supply chain. Today, to build in resilience, one has to consider a wider range of disruptive events than in the past. #Sustainability was another big issue these days. #Ports and #terminals need to find a sustainable way for the #electrification of their #operations and lower #emissions, adds Dr. Saanen. #transport #sustainableports #terminaloperations #automation #digitaltransformation #futureproof #technology

Friday reveal: the topics of our business workshops 🎉 On 14 November, the RailTech Summit starts in the afternoon with a series of workshops – but for 40 participants only. Last year, our participants did an amazing job reflecting on how the role of carriers is evolving in the industry, the key KPIs for an optimal rail performance and how to effectively measure the CO2 emissions of transports. Here are this year’s topics: 1️⃣ Track your savings: Cut rail freight costs by reducing cancellations and maximizing fulfillment rates. 2️⃣ Master inbound transport management: Drive cost reduction and boost operational efficiency. 3️⃣ Keep the fleet rolling with better safety margins...but without breaking the bank on maintenance and extra costs. 4️⃣ Beat transport capacity shortages and keep costs and operations in check. In his opening comments #TLME Future-Proof Technologies Conference Moderator and industry thought-leader Lars Jensen, set the stage for the day's discussions by highlighting the conference's tagline: "Be Resilient. Be Smart. Be Ready." Referring to ongoing #RedSea #shipping disruptions Mr Jensen said that the industry "has indeed demonstrated resilience" and #cargo has continued to move via alternate routes and #worldtrade has largely not been affected. Being "smart", Mr Jensen added, did not just mean using #technology but also how technologies are implemented to realise gains in efficiency, safety and lowered costs. The other topic of the day's discussion Mr Jensen said was "being ready". It was not any more about the promise of new technologies but how ready are they to be gainfully adopted and used effectively well into the #future. That is what is critical today. Mr Jensen said the #MiddleEast is playing key role in testing and implementing cutting-edge technologies in transport and logistics operations. As with the prior TLME conferences, insights gained and recorded from the discussions at the #FutureProofTechnologies Conference, can be used to spread greater awareness and smart deployment of future-proof technologies across the #supplychain.
