First days back at work after Eid holidays can be a mix of catching up and getting back into the routine. It's often a time to reconnect with colleagues, share stories from the break, and refocus on tasks and projects. How was your first day back?

#leadership It's so easy to do isn't it? It's Monday and there are a million and one things to get done. But it takes one minute to acknowledge a team member for a job well done, the report that was turned in last week, some sort of appreciation that lets them know "I see you." We, including myself, should be more intentional in making sure that we show more appreciation to our team and the work that they are doing. Can we do that? #NerdySTEMQueen #leadershipfirst #womenleaders #blackinstem #womeninstem #girlsinstem #sheisstem #stemleaders #leadershipisfun #womenleadership #technicalleadership

Leadership involves fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and included. As you start your work week, consider how you can actively listen to your colleagues, acknowledge their contributions, and encourage open communication. Small actions, like checking in with team members or recognizing their efforts, can make a significant difference in creating a sense of belonging. Embrace the opportunity to lead by example and make an impact through your daily interactions. As my wise colleague Okezie Odoemene, CPHR said over coffee last week, we are the change we’ve been waiting for. Be the change. Create belonging. Make a difference. That’s leadership.

Remember that time you were running 5 minutes late and considered it "fashionably on time"? Yeah, in Germany, that wouldn't work. I have been in Germany since 2013. At first, the Germans' regimented schedules felt a bit…intense. But here's the thing - their efficiency is contagious! Here are 3 key habits I noticed and adapted to: 1. Meetings started and ended on time, which meant more time to actually get things done. It turns out, a little predictability goes a long way in reducing stress. 2. Germans take their lunch break seriously! A full-hour midday break to recharge and unplug might sound crazy, but hear me out. I found myself returning to work refreshed and more productive. 3. Germans love their schedules. Tasks are meticulously planned, and deadlines are met. While it took some adjusting, I learned the value of organization and the peace of mind it brings. 👉 What are some interesting cultural quirks you've encountered while living abroad?

These last two weeks have been a great period to recuperate energy⚡ in an otherwise hectic weekday schedule. There are plenty of things to still learn 💡 about the AGV and the Intra Logistics community but I had the possibility to take couple of valuable days off to spend with family doing outdoors activities. This time it was alpine skiing⛷, which is a popular past time in Sweden in winter time, as well as a couple of days starting up the spring activities around the family home. 🌞 Really recharging the batteries, or rather, using energy in a different way and letting the week day brain rest. Having the possibility to take time off for vacation as well as it being considered valuable from the employer perspective is a testament to a long term pragmatic approach between employer organizations as well as employee representation through unions. Both sides considering what is best for both as an investment rather than a purely transactional approach. A continuous dialogue around productivity, efficiency and international competitiveness. 🇸🇪 Or as a previous manager once told me "Your kids are only kids for a short time. You will regret not using the opportunity." 👨👩👧👦
