While DWDM recovery began in Q4 2023, the pace is slow in Q1 2024. Don’t expect FTTx and WFH transceiver demand to bounce back until 2025-2026. Broadcom's continued journey of connectivity innovations: In this latest episode of Silicon Valley Tech Talks, we had an excellent opportunity to interview Vijay Nagarajan, vice president of the wireless connectivity Business Unit at Broadcom and head of strategic marketing for Broadcom's semiconductor division. Vijay has lived through the evolution of Wi-Fi technology from its inception to where it is today. He is among the industry pioneers in this space. Following are some of the highlights from our chat with Vijay: (1) Vijay explained Broadcom's vision of "Connecting Everything" and provided an overview of Broadcom's connectivity solutions, particularly in the Wireless space. (2) We discussed critical aspects (beyond data rate improvements) that are important in the next phase of Wi-Fi evolution. Vijay enlightened us on how Wi-Fi has evolved in the past two and half decades and what the future landscape looks like. (3) The next generation Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 7) is here. But what is the value proposition for an end user in Wi-Fi 7? Why should a user upgrade their devices to Wi-Fi 7? Vijay elaborated on this for us. (4) We discussed some spectrum aspects around Wi-Fi evolution: (1) spectrum harmonization for 6GHz and (2) spectrum convergence between Cellular and Wi-Fi. Hon Hai (Foxconn) has reported financial results for 2Q24, with a record 2Q high net profit and revenue hitting NT$1.55 trillion, a 19% increase year-on-year. AI server revenue surged over 60% during the quarter, reflecting strong market demand and Foxconn's strategic focus on advanced technologies. For the full-year 2024, the outlook for significant growth is unchanged, but with better visibility. As the third quarter begins, we anticipate significant growth both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year, particularly in the smart consumer electronics and cloud networking segments. The AI server business is expected to be a major driver, potentially becoming the company’s next trillion-dollar revenue generator. The development of new AI rack solutions further cements Foxconn’s leadership in innovation.
