🦾 Opening Panel: Setting the Challenge - on Automation and Robotics in Aerospace ✈️ Today, I had the privilege of attending the Aerospace Technology Institute Innovation Showcase for Automation and Robotics hosted by WMG, University of Warwick. The event kicked off with an insightful panel discussion featuring: •Simon Webb (Chair) - CTO, WMG •John Marshall - Assembly Strategy Lead, Airbus • Neil Webster MBA - Head of R&T, Safran •Chris Brown - Head of Technology and Industrial Engineering, ITP Aero • Ross Crawford - Battery Manufacture Lead, Vertical Aerospace. The panel discussed the pressing challenges and significant opportunities in the aerospace sector, particularly focusing on the integration of automation and robotics. Key topics included: 🔹 Tackling the massive backlog and increasing production rates. 🔹 The critical role of automation in enhancing quality, reducing costs, and ensuring safety. 🔹 Specific challenges in adopting automation for aerospace compared to other industries. 🔹 The importance of collaboration between established companies and startups. 🔹 Securing buy-in from operations teams for successful automation implementation. 🔹 Leveraging data for quality control and the push towards digitisation for efficiency and traceability. With travel demand surpassing pre-pandemic levels and the ambitious goals for decarbonisation, the aerospace sector is at a pivotal point. Sustainable product development right from the start 🚀 👉 Workshop on LCA in connection with DigiTain From 20 to 22 November, the Stuttgart Conference on Automotive Production 2024 will take place at ARENA2036 in Stuttgart. 📍 We are happy that our two colleagues Martina Prox, Director Expert Services and Lisa Trautmann, Research Manager will lead a workshop there together with Dr. Marion Woermann, Consultant at EDAG Group. 🗣️ The workshop will focus on the application of LCA in early product development and will take place in connection with the DigiTain project, in which iPoint is involved as a project partner. 🤝 The aim of integrating LCA into the product development process is to enable the design of more sustainable products. The workshop will use the development of a traction battery for a hybrid electric vehicle with a fuel cell and battery system as an application example from DigiTain. 🔋 The conference will focus on innovative technologies in robotics, automation and simulation for the further development of automotive production. 🚗 Emphasis will be placed on digital processes and sustainable development for the production and certification of electric drives as part of the international DigiTain research project. 🌍 Have we piqued your interest? 🚀 Showcasing innovative R&D achievements in trustworthy electronics: last week, the VE-DIVA-IC project team came together at #Elmos for their final review. Funded under the #BMBF’s ZEUSS initiative as part of the "Trustworthy Electronics" flagship, VE-DIVA-IC supports Germany’s path toward technological sovereignty with a focus on secure and reliable electronic components for emerging technologies like autonomous driving. Led by Elmos and powered by a strong consortium — Cadence Design Systems, DENSO, Giesecke+Devrient, IMST GmbH, Center for Cognitive Interaction Technology at Bielefeld University, Fraunhofer AISEC, and Fraunhofer-Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems — the project enhances component security in mobility and automation by developing secure IC design, verifying design integrity through modeling, and continuously monitoring against manipulation. “Thanks to this innovative consortium and the cooperative and committed collaboration of each partner, we were able to achieve all our project goals and are making a decisive contribution to trustworthy electronics Made in Germany,” says the consortium leader Dr. Roland Krumm from Elmos. “We would like to thank the BMBF for financial support and the project management organisation VDIVDE-IT for their excellent and cooperative support of our project.” Read more about the project here: https://rpb.li/Tbwz.. #Automotive #Semiconductor #InnovationMatters #AnalogMixedSignalExperts
