There is always a boring way to do something and a far more interesting way to do it. Brands have been telling customers about their “sales” for decades. But rarely do they do it with creativity. Here’s what Gymshark did. They put up this giant billboard with a bunch of clothes and a hidden message. As and when people “shop-lifted” the clothes, the big message was revealed. On the ground, this may not result in big numbers. But when everyone starts talking about it online, like we are right now, the awareness increases exponentially. Brand... such a nebulous term, but so critical to driving the change needed in a company. Sports teams do it with their logos and jerseys.. they avoid stepping on them in the locker rooms, they kiss them when they score (soccer mainly), but it's all about visualizing what the group's identity is and what they are striving towards.
