With this new capability, businesses will no longer have to wait hours to recharge—fleet uptime will be optimized, leading to higher operational productivity and lower emissions. The First Prototype Swapping Stations As part of this exciting project, we are also working on the construction of the first prototype battery-swapping stations in Europe. The electric 20-ton trucks with the option for trailer operation are perfectly suited for both urban and regional transports. You saw our news that DB Schenker is using the Next Generation eCanter in the North of Finland? Let‘s meet the crew who operates the trucks: Sami Määtä, Terminal Manager at DB SCHENKER hub in Kuusamo and also driver of the eCanter, has already driven more than 1,200 km with the eCanter in recent weeks, making deliveries to customers. “The vehicle starts flawlessly every day. With the low temperatures prevailing in winter, people in Kuusamo are used to different things from diesel vehicles from time to time.” Another clear advantage for Sami Määttä is the charging directly inside of the building: while the eCanter is charging its batteries, the DB SCHENKER employee is planning the routes for the day or can load freight into other vehicles. Waiting times during the refueling process at a filling station are completely eliminated. We just placed an order for yet another 100 electric trucks 🚛🔌 We currently have the largest fleet of heavy-duty electric trucks in Europe, and with this step, we're closer to reaching the target of electrifying at least 25% of its truck fleet by 2030. "We want to drive the transition to more sustainable road transport. Our expanding fleet of electric trucks will not only contribute to reducing the climate impact of our operations. It will also enable DFDS to support more companies looking to decarbonise their supply chains. The 100 new electric trucks underline our commitment to pushing the development forward," says Niklas Andersson, EVP of the Logistics Division. 🚛 Pioneering solution: e-mobility in the Green Steel Logistics Hub! ⚡ As part of Rhenus, I am delighted that we are driving forward electromobility with the Green Steel Logistics Hub. Our four e-trucks are charged at powerful charging stations with up to 210 kW – from 20 to 90% in just 70 minutes.
