However, some of the most valuable and underrated experiences come from the moments we share with our colleagues during these demanding times. 1. 𝑹𝒐𝒂𝒅 𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒑𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒍 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔: The long drives to and from audit sites are not just about reaching a destination. They’re opportunities to share stories, bond over playlists, and make the journey a memorable part of the experience. These moments of shared travel help forge stronger relationships and lighten the load of intense work. 2. 𝑳𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒖𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒔: Exploring local eateries and trying regional dishes with your team can be a delightful break from routine. How much knowledge resides in your head, and in your head only? Whether it's a summer vacation or time off for any other reason, most likely, another team member will have to fill in for you at some point. This is why transferring the knowledge that perhaps only you hold is crucial. Now is a great time to think about this and prepare. Who will you transfer your knowledge to, and what's the best way to make it happen? 5 tips that can help you do this more successfully: 1. Make sure expectations are well articulated by both parties. 2. Be honest about what will and will not get done and plan for any potential problems or crises that may arise. 3. If temporarily assigning responsibilities to more than one person, be clear about who is accountable for which portion(s) of your job. 4. Create a detailed guide or checklist of daily tasks, key contacts, and any other essential information. 5. If possible (and it may not be), plan a brief check-in to address any urgent questions or issues. Also be honest, that if you're out of the office for an extended period of time...for whatever reason...it's not business as usual. Things will be different.
