Last Thursday, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Celebrate Successes workshop as part of the Women in STEM Careers program at the University of Adelaide. I would like to extend a huge thank you to Sharon Ferrier for the insightful session! One of the key takeaways for me was the importance of overcoming perfectionism. We often hold ourselves back, waiting for the perfect moment or when we are perfectly ready to take action. This workshop made me realise that embracing opportunities as they come, even when things aren't flawless, can lead to remarkable growth. Stepping out of our comfort zones is also essential for professional development. True learning happens when we challenge ourselves and take risks. Only when we are a little uncomfortable, that's when we know we're growing. Another key point was the power of self-reflection. Celebrating our achievements, no matter how small, helps build our confidence. This is an important yet sometimes neglected aspect of career growth. I want to express my thanks and gratitude to the Women in STEM Careers team for putting together this empowering program. It not only helps me develop confidence but also provides me with realistic strategies to navigate my professional journey. Let's keep celebrating our successes and embracing the opportunities that come our way! #WomenInSTEMCareers #ProfessionalGrowth #CelebrateSuccesses

This week, I had the privilege of contributing to a panel discussion on career guidance strategies aimed at increasing women’s participation in STEM. The event, hosted by Mindshift Skills Hub as part of the Future Women Erasmus+ Project, was expertly led by Célia Tavares and Nadine Teles. It was an inspiring conversation with Ana Paula Duarte, Heitor Gomes, Katiuska Cruz, Nádia Leitão, and Susana Brás. Together, we explored the persistent gender gap in STEM fields and highlighted the urgency of collective action at all levels—starting with early education and extending to the labor market and broader societal dynamics—to bridge this divide. I look forward to engaging with other initiatives that drive meaningful progress in bridging the gender gap in STEM careers and across the broader labor market.

🌟 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐨𝐛𝐬!🌟 I've had some amazing conversations with other women, and we all agree—it's thrilling and empowering to see women stepping into roles that have traditionally been male-dominated. Organizations like NEW (Nontraditional Employment for Women) are leading the charge, providing pathways to well-paying jobs with benefits and safety protections in critical infrastructure fields. Since 1978, NEW has been a beacon of hope and progress, offering nationally recognized pre-apprenticeship training programs, job placement services, and essential support like housing and childcare referrals. They are not just changing the face of the building and construction industry; they are creating a skilled workforce vital to economic development in New York City and beyond. Together, we are proving that women can excel in any field they choose. Let's celebrate these trailblazers and continue to support and inspire each other to reach new heights! 🚀💪 #WomenInConstruction #BreakingBarriers #Empowerment #WomenInTrades #NonTraditionalJobs #WomenInSTEM #BuildingTheFuture #WomenEmpowerment #SkilledTrades #InspiringWomen #EconomicDevelopment #Trailblazers

"You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it." As someone fascinated with human resilience, character and adversity, I love this quote from Maya Angelou - and she knew what she was talking about! Today I was co-facilitating the WHEN: Women's Higher Education Network for women in technical and research roles at UCL. I heard many deeply inspiring stories. It was clear that the women who shared these stories used their challenges to get clarity on who they are, what their purpose is and how they want to support others. #womensupportingwomen #ifnotnowwhen #whenequality #careeracceleratorprogram #resilience
