At this year’s EBACE event, LYTE Aviation announced an exciting partnership with CRISALION, utilizing CRISALION’s five-seater air taxi, Integrity, for ‘last-mile’ transport operations. This collaboration enhances LYTE Aviation's hybrid-hydrogen tilt-wing solution, set to operate within the next five years. LYTE’s portfolio includes the SkyBus for mass transit, SkyTruck for cargo, and X-Prime for premium seating. The partnership with CRISALION also expands LYTE's offerings to include the ‘TurboBus’ for Humanitarian Aid, boasting a range of up to 2,000 km and speeds up to 500 km/h! This innovation promises significant business for air taxis and drones across various use cases. On another #SmartCity note, the #innovation pace of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (#UAVs or aerial drones) is going incredibly fast. As a kid, who never dreamed of owning a flying car? Perhaps if you're stuck in traffic every day, you still might have that ambition 😅. Today, electric air-taxis are a reality! China's AutoFlight performed a successful demo flight between Shenzhen and Zhuhai last month, with a craft that can carry up to 5 passengers over a distance of 250 km, at a speed of 200 km/h. Yvette's interest in remotely-piloted and autonomous aircraft systems soon led her into composite drone construction, focusing on large-scale projects including hybrid eVTOL/fixed-wing aircraft. #whatsitwednesday - a drone taxi or passenger drone? According to Ferrovial : "Flying taxis are passenger drones also known as urban air mobility (UAM) vehicles. While a flying taxi could be a helicopter that picks you up on the roof of your downtown high-rise office building and whisks you away to the airport, that’s not what we mean when we use the term “flying taxi.” Flying taxis are a new type of vehicle altogether. Flying taxis are passenger drones, or as those in the industry refer to them, urban air mobility (UAM) vehicles. Usually, when we see the letter “U” in the context of drones, it stands for “unmanned,” but, the first generation of flying taxis will have someone sitting in the pilot seat." Given that its just a change in propulsion, much like electric buses replacing diesel buses on city streets (just greener and quieter), one cannot draw a distinction between piston engined, jet engined, turbine engined and electric motor aircraft as they all can fulfill the same airtaxi / flying taxi (private air charter) usecase, whether they are fixed wing or VTOL, or used for regional or urban airmobility/aviation. Passenger UAM has been around since 1953 and Sao Paulo has UAM at scale with over 2200 flights per day, while London has ~1500 flights per month. While the first passenger drone, and first eVTOL, was type certified by the CAAC - Civil Aviation Administration of China in October 2023, the EHang (NASDAQ: EH) 216S, we are unlikely to see the EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency or Federal Aviation Administration approving any passenger drone in next 10 years, especially given the fatalities and incidents with autonomous and self-driving road vehicles, spoofing & jamming, as well as systems failures on commercial jets. #advancedairmobility #airtaxi #autonomousaerialvehicle #dronetaxi #evtol #ferrovial #flyingtaxis #futureaviation #futureflight #passengerdrone #regionalairmobility #sustainableairmobility #sustainableaviation #uncrewedaerialvehicle #unmannedaerialvehicle #urbanairmobility

📣 The future of transportation is taking flight! 🛩 Exciting news from the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom this morning, as they unveil the UK Government’s Future of Flight Action Plan, paving the way for flying taxis and routine emergency services drones by 2028. The action plan ensures that regulation and infrastructure are in place to ensure the UK leads the next revolution of flight – making aviation quieter, safer and more sustainable, with drone technology expected to boost the UK economy by an estimated £45 billion by the end of this decade.
