This year’s theme for #EarthDay is Planet Vs Plastic🌎 Wondering what you can do to help? EARTHDAY.ORG have shared 3 actions you can take to help fight plastic pollution👇 Action 1 - Support the Global Plastics Treaty: https://lnkd.in/eyePEmRj Action 2 - Reject Fast Fashion: https://lnkd.in/eTCTEh2h Action 3 - Join The Great Global Cleanup: https://lnkd.in/e3zicRWR Having our HQ based just a stones throw away from the beach means that we see first hand the effects that plastic has on the ocean. 🌍 Tomorrow is World Environment Day! 🌿 Here are five simple things you can do to mark the day: 🌳Plant a tree: Trees are essential for clean air and combating climate change. If you don't have a garden, why not donate to a charity so that they can plant trees in areas that have been impacted be deforestation? 🛍️Reduce plastic use: Why not ditch plastic in one area of your life tomorrow for good. You could replace your cleaning products, switch to zero waste beauty, or visit your local re-use shop. Switching to reusable items helps reduce waste and protect our oceans. 🧹Clean up: Joining a community clean-up event can make a big difference in keeping our environments clean. 💡Save energy: Small steps like turning off lights and using energy-efficient appliances can add up. 😃 Volunteer: Last year, our team spent a day volunteering at Attenborough Nature Centre. Why not think about something you could book in for later in the year? You can find out about our day here: https://buff.ly/3ZuFn2s We'd love to know if you are making any changes to your usual habits tomorrow. #WorldEnvironmentDay #Sustainability #EcoFriendly #GreenLiving

Our #EarthDay appeal with Big Give is now live! 🎉 Meaning every pound we receive over the next week, will be matched at no extra cost to you. https://lnkd.in/eaRECQkF Our rivers are crisis! Our reliance on single-use plastics is adding unnecessary strain to these already struggling ecosystems, with a shocking 80% of the ocean’s plastic pollution travelling via our rivers 😲 Now more than ever, we need your help to continue our vital campaigning work to help keep our rivers and oceans plastic-free. Recent Marine Conservation Society beach clean data shows more than 480,000 items of litter found on UK beaches - with drinks-related litter one of the most found! By donating to our Earth Day appeal, YOU can do something about this. For ONE WEEK ONLY, every pound will be matched – so your £25 becomes £50 to go towards powering our campaigns like Refill to help keep our rivers and oceans plastic-free.

One of the best things about being at Tinmouse is knowing that I work for a company that not only cares about the planet, but actively tries to make it a better place 🌍 We're a member of the 1% for the Planet club, and that means we donate 1% of our annual profits to charities and causes that mitigate our carbon footprint. City to Sea is dedicated to minimising plastic pollution in our oceans through beach clean-ups and reducing the demand for plastic bottles. Given the escalating issue of plastic and pollution in our seas, we've proudly supported City To Sea for the past two years 🌊 I'm particularly impressed by City To Sea's proactive approach to tackling this issue head-on. When Tom spoke with 1% For The Planet, he echoed these sentiments: 💬 "It is easy to clear plastic from beaches and plant trees after they are cut down but harder to focus in on the source of that problem and stop it from happening in the first place." It means so much to be a part of an organisation and business that cares about the world, I hope we can inspire more to join us on this journey! 👏 Learn more about the causes we're involved in: https://lnkd.in/eP2rTP6Q #Tinmouse #ForGood #ForThePlanet #CityToSea #PlasticFree #EnvironmentalProtection #Sustainability

In 2013 I first learned about the plastic waste crisis and how it was impacting our oceans and sea life. Back then I worked for a charity and spent a lot of time presenting at schools and organizing community clean ups. Afterwards I was often asked, what could be done to stop this crisis. And as everyone will agree there is not just one answer to that question. It will take all the tools in the toolbox, as well as some tools that haven't been invented yet. Today my audience has changed a bit, and I have other tools at my disposal to make an impact, but am no less optimistic that the plastic waste crisis is a problem that can be solved. #peopleprotectwhattheylove #healthyoceans #circulareconomy

Please join Monterey Bay Aquarium and our colleagues in the Aquarium Conservation Partnership by adding your name to our petition for strong action on #PlasticPollution by telling President Biden and the United States government: There is #NoTimeToWaste! Each day we learn more about the harm that results from the tide of plastic engulfing our planet: harm to our health, to our communities, to wildlife, and to ecosystems. Now we have a real opportunity to do something about it. Your voice is critical in the process. This month – Earth Month 2024 – representatives from the United States and over 160 other countries will meet in Ottawa, Canada to draw up the critical blueprint for a first-ever Global Plastic Treaty. It’s a critical moment for the development of a historic global treaty to end plastic pollution. To make the treaty strong and effective, the United States must be a leader in demanding bold action. The Aquarium and Environmental Law Institute just released a report confirming that the U.S. has all the authority it needs – under existing federal law – to move forward at home and internationally. When we stand together and speak out, we can take the bold action needed to safeguard our health and the health of our ocean planet for generations. I hope you’ll sign the petition today. https://lnkd.in/gRYqKzbU #OceanPlasticPollution #GlobalPlasticTreaty #PublicHealth #microplastics #FossilFuels #EarthMonth2024 #EarthMonth

Earth Day 2024 sees the theme of planet vs plastics, drawing our focus to the critical issue of plastic pollution on nature, our planet and communities around the world. Plastic pollution has reached a point where its ubiquity is impossible to ignore. It has infiltrated our beaches and cities and the most isolated corners of our planet, entering the food chain and the human body. Additionally, almost all plastics are created from oil, gas and coal, exacerbating a reliance on fossil fuels. Plastic waste is mostly exported from the Global North to countries in the Global South that are ill-equipped to handle the waste; a form of waste colonialism. This exploitation of lower-income nations creates burdening issues that affect pollution, human health, ecosystems and local economies, perpetuating environmental injustice and exploitation. This week, we're raising money that will provide global communities with essential climate education to tackle climate change wherever they are. And until Thursday, donations of all sizes will be doubled. 🌎 Donate to support global communities at: https://lght.ly/fg3cei5 #CarbonLiteracy #ClimateAction #Charity #Fundraising
