“Creative Confidence is a state of mind.” 🎯 I don’t think I’ve consciously associated creativity with confidence until I read this incredibly insightful book by David Kelley and Tom Kelley. You can become more creative (and not necessarily in the typical artistic sense - think using your #imagination to create something new in the world) by changing how you think.💭 “At its core, #creative #confidence is about #believing in your ability to create change in the world around you. It is the #conviction that you can achieve what you set out to do. This [is what] lies at the heart of #innovation.” Also, “creative confidence is like a muscle - it can be strengthened and #nurtured through #effort and #experience.” Keep working on your #creative #confidence this week 💪🏾. Loving the insights from this book 📖

Review of "Creative Confidence" by Tom and David Kelley 📚 I recently completed reading "Creative Confidence," and it has made a significant impact on me 😍 Key Findings: > Being creative is a mentality that we can develop rather than a skill. > Innovation and progress depend on accepting failure. > Working with different teams encourages innovation and produces surprising results. For anyone who wants to improve their creative thinking, I heartily suggest this book. Read it? What do you think? 🗒 #ReviewofBook #InnovativeThinking #ProfessionalDevelopment

I just finished the book📚Thinking in Systems by Donella H. Meadows, edited by Diana Wright, and these passages kept ringing in my head. 🔬🔍👀🤨 “You can see some things through the lens of the human eye, other things through the lens of a microscope, others through the lens of a telescope, and still others through the lens of systems theory. Everything seen through each kind of lens is actually there. Each way of seeing allows our knowledge of the wondrous world in which we live to become a little more complete. At a time when the world is more messy, more crowded, more interconnected, more interdependent, and more rapidly changing than ever before, the more ways of seeing, the better.” - Thinking in Systems 🤨👀🔍🔬 It’s time for us to go back to the drawing board to see what lens/lenses we are using to see the world in front of us, before we go out in the market place, crafting our strategy (making choices about how we choose to compete differently), or putting together presentations and pitch decks to satisfy the unwritten rule of including our unique selling proposition (USP). When things are in focus and we have attained enough clarity, I believe we will see that while a degree of differentiation is necessary, we also have much in common. #Book #innovation #ExecutiveJourney #MusingsWithJovitaTam —————— P.S. Have you read Show Your Work by Austin Kleon? It’s a game-changer for anyone looking to share their creative process and ideas with the world. Kleon encourages us to stop hiding behind perfection and start sharing our journey, one step at a time. The key takeaway? You don’t have to wait until something is perfect to show it—share the process, and let your work evolve in the open. It’s about connection, not perfection. Thank you for sharing this book with us Karim Raymond! 🤍 #ShowYourWork #CreativeProcess #ShareYourJourney

Great problems to tackle usually start with “You know what sucks?…” Recommending a great book: Ideaflow the Only Business Metric That Matters by Jeremy Utley. It’s what I’m 📖. ✏️Carry a notebook with you- you never know when inspiration may strike. Write ideas down without judgement. 🧠The problem with brainstorming is that we stop too soon. The first attractive idea is not where you stop. Five ideas are not good enough. Not fifty either. Keep going. Think hundreds! Brainstorming is not done in one session. Let the ideas stew, grow, spin off. 🔎Dare to be obvious. We forget step one. We make things more difficult. We overlook. Think like a novice. 🎯Desirability over feasibility first 🎯Momentum over perfection 🔬Analogous exploration- who has solved “the issue you are having” successfully? Look outside your field. For example, I might look at retail over other libraries to see how they have attracted customers. #bookrecommendation #problemsolving

Chapter 11: Avoid wallpaper at all costs. This hit me good in Steven Bartlett's new book. Avoid overused terms, be specific and be different. The worst thing you can do is blend in like wallpaper. Ryan Mitchell goes on about it. In the agency world, everyone says the same thing — that “discovery” session ends up looking a lot like a rinse and repeat exercise. How can you believe anyone? I’ve challenged myself to try and adopt this chapter’s mindset for everything I do.
