Addressing energy poverty through energy solidarity necessitates soft skills and social instincts like empathy, understanding, and care, challenging the energy sector's predominant technological focus. This is precisely where the strength of energy communities, as people-centred, citizen-led energy initiatives, shines. 💡 Join us tomorrow morning to learn more about the Community Energy for Energy Solidarity Project's main takeaways and lessons learned after three years of piloting and experimenting with #energysolidarity practices in #energycommunities across Europe 🤝 Join us at our fourth and final Open Day, register below ⬇ https://lnkd.in/ehSDdXDw ALIenergy (Argyll, Lomond and the Islands Energy Agency) Enercoop SCIC Les 7 Vents SNAP! The Supershine project (Horizon Europe), in which ENA is a partner, has the main objective of improving energy efficiency and reducing energy poverty via renovations in social housing. Among the different themes addressed in this project, energy communities play a key role as drivers of the green transition. We love this graphic, from Regen's latest paper, Power of Places, which draws on insights from systematic literature reviews and engagement with 15 local authority and community energy stakeholders to highlight the significant opportunities of local energy presents. Local energy provides immense value to people, places and the UK’s national net zero mission. This includes, but is not limited to: Reinvesting profits from locally owned generation projects to build community wealth and tackle fuel poverty Operating local supply and market models which can lower bills and encourage people to participate more actively in flexibility and demand-side response More directly engaging people in the energy transition through trusted local actors, partnerships and services more closely tailored to their circumstances Better reflecting the distinct needs of different geographies and groups, opening new opportunities for social and economic development Read the paper here: https://lnkd.in/eNfwiFbM #energisesouthdowns #communityenergy #localenergy #local #thinkglobalactlocal#Regen

Local energy communities (LEC) are revolutionising the way society produces and consumes energy. At EDP, we believe everyone should have access to clean, sustainable energy, which is why eradicating energy poverty is a priority for us. EDP New is participating in EU-funded R&D projects, such as ProLight Project and Eyes Hearts Hands 👁❤️🖐, which include the assessment of LEC establishment in economically vulnerable settings. This approach empowers both individuals and communities. Today is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty and we invite you to join us in working together towards a fairer energy transition 🌎. #EDPWeChooseEarth #AllGreen2030 #LocalEnergyCommunities

💡 Energy poverty is one of the EU’s greatest challenges—are we doing enough? Between 35 and 72 million people (8–16% of the population) in the EU face energy poverty, unable to keep their homes adequately warm. This stark reality forces many to make impossible choices: paying the bills or putting food on the table. For vulnerable households and those experiencing poverty, the impact is even more devastating—damaging health, well-being, and quality of life. The EU has rolled out policy instruments over the years to address this crisis, but here’s the big question: Are these policies making a real difference? If you’re ready to dive deep into this critical issue, join me at the Right to Energy Forum on Monday morning, December 2, in Brussels and online. 🎙️ On behalf of EAPN - European Anti Poverty Network I’ll be chairing the opening panel discussion: “Can the Fit for 55 Package align climate action with social impact goals to tackle #EnergyPoverty?” Joining me and some brilliant minds who will share insights and spark real dialogue: 🇪🇺 @Veronique Marx, DG-ENER, European Commission 💼 Tuscany Bell, European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) 🔍 Louise Sunderland, Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP) This is your chance to learn, engage, and be part of the solution. Don’t miss it—register now: 👉 https://lnkd.in/evgFf-6s Let’s turn up the heat on tackling energy poverty. 🔥 #EnergyPoverty #SocialJustice #ClimateAction #Fitfor55 #RightToEnergy
