The UNESCO Chair in Life Cycle and Climate Change at ESCI-UPF participates in the KijaniBox-eu project, officially launched last month in Nairobi, Kenya, which aims to accelerate Africa’s green transition. The primary objective of the project is to minimize food losses, mitigate sanitary risks, and promote energy access for small businesses. The project will run for four years, with the ESCI-UPF team leading critical tasks related to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Circularity Assessment, Life Cycle Costing, and Socioeconomic Assessment. #LCA #WasteManagement #Research

On this World Oceans Day 2024, we are proud to highlight one of our most significant projects this year: the successful installation of a complete set of “Ambon Aggregation and Recycling Center”, supported by USAID Clean Cities, Blue Ocean (CCBO). Instead of just doing beach clean-up, we have successfully established:  📍 12 coastal collection points throughout Ambon Island 🏝 Allowing the coastal communities to collect and sell the waste to Recovered Indonesia to be responsibly processed and recycled. At RECO, we are striving for long-term and bigger impact for our environment and ocean, because we are more than aware that to save our ocean, we must start on land. 🎉We are proud to announce that Brooks Hannas & Partners has been subcontracted to implement the Bio-Waste 5 Regions Project (BW5R) in Serbia, a groundbreaking project under the EU’s Green Agenda for the #WesternBalkans. 🌱 This two-year project addresses #biowaste management in 25 municipalities across five waste regions (Subotica, Pančevo, Sremska Mitrovica, Užice, and Pirot), diverting up to 40,000 tonnes of biodegradable waste, from landfill to composting, annually. 🚀☘️ Through infrastructure investments, public awareness campaigns, capacity building, and technical assistance BW5R will support local governments to provide a better service to their citizens. This is a major step forward in supporting 🇷🇸Serbia's circular economy and meeting 🇪🇺EU environmental standards. Together, we are contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future for the region! The project is led by the Particip GmbH consortium, with funding provided by the European Union. Achievement | I am really honored to be YEAH delegate! Last year 2023, I was selected as one of the delegates of YEAH program_(Youth for Environmental Action and Hope) which is organized by Prevent Plastics and @Thant Myanmar. The program took for 4 months and coverd a wide range of topics: circular green economy, waste management, wildlife, marine life, air and water pollution and so on. One thing I'd like to mention is that we, all the delegates got a chance to draw and pitch our ideal project related to YEAH program's theme and implement it in our respective regions. For implementation, YEAH also provided a small grant. As s reflection stage, we all also had to write a report. I also implemented one project named EquiVerse. Now I've already done everything and became former delegate of YEAH program. To recap this journey, I have learnt the word " sustainability " in detail and gained knowledge about different kinds of topics mentioned above, especially being aware of plastic waste as well as pollution. And then I started changing my behavior that can adversely impact on environment and became more responsible person. #YEAH #Sustainbility #Achievement
