Today October 16 is World Food Day. As the global population grows, hunger persists. Despite sufficient food production, 733 million people worldwide face food insecurity (FAO). This year's theme, "Right to Foods for a Better Life and Future," highlights the urgent need to address hunger and malnutrition. Food is a fundamental human right, essential for survival and well-being. Yet, crises like conflict, climate change, and economic downturns threaten our food systems. We must transform these systems to ensure food security, protect the environment, and create inclusive livelihoods. Today, we honour the countless individuals who are working tirelessly to ensure that everyone has access to food. From farmers and food producers to community organisers and volunteers, these #FoodHeroes are making a difference in the lives of millions. On this #WorldFoodDay , let's recognise their dedication and commitment to ending hunger and malnutrition. Their efforts are essential for building a more just and equitable world. Imagine not knowing where your next meal will come from or whether it will be enough to keep you healthy. Food security means having both physical and economic access to sufficient, nutritious food at all times. However, poverty, rising food prices, and environmental factors leave millions vulnerable, especially in low-income countries. The good news? There’s enough food to nourish everyone—if we can improve food availability, access, and utilization. It’s not just about more food but better systems, like improving agricultural practices and empowering communities to produce and access healthy food. ⚪ Enough food is produced to feed everyone on the planet. 🔴 And yet millions of people struggle to feed themselves and their families. 🤝 Let's leverage our resources and knowledge to address the root causes of hunger and build a hunger-free world for generations to come. 🌐🍏 The stronger our #FoodSystems are, the stronger we all are against hunger and malnutrition. When food systems break, suppliers struggle to keep up with demand, food prices increase, and food access becomes limited. When food systems are robust, people can feed themselves – even amid conflict, the climate crisis, or rising costs.

Just Logistics issues ?

Food insecurity issue! The world is capable of producing enough food to feed everyone; the issue is that not everyone can access the food that's being produced. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in 2022, 691– 783 million people in the world faced hunger, which is 122 million more than in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, 345 million of those people are facing acute levels of hunger, including starvation. According to the Global Report On Food Crisis, in 2023, over 281 million people worldwide faced acute food insecurity, marking a rise from pre-pandemic levels. Despite marginal improvements in some areas, the number of individuals in dire need increased by 24 million since 2022. Conflicts, economic shocks, and weather extremes continue to worsen these alarming trends. As we face these challenges, it's imperative to prioritize sustainable solutions and increase support for vulnerable communities.
