Dive into our latest blog where we dissect the diverse response criteria based on imaging endpoints. We’re comparing their pros and cons and exploring how they can be improved. Focusing on structural imaging like CT and MRI versus functional imaging in PET scans, we explore how each method may impact the evaluation of new medical treatments. Ophthopedia Update:Fluid Pathways in Age-Related Macular Degeneration Elucidated with Advanced Retinal Imaging: Subretinal (SRF) and intraretinal fluid (IRF) are tried and true biomarkers of neovascular activity in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) indicating the need for intravitreal anti-VEGF therapy. But it is becoming abundantly clear that the exudative pathways in AMD are much more complex. Although neovascular fluid is certainly a common complication of AMD, other mechanisms should be considered including degenerative and tractional etiologies.1 #Ophthalmology #Retina #Ophthotwitter

Why is imaging so important in preclinical research for renal vascular interventions? In this CT scan of arterial and venous renal vascularization in a pig, you’ll see that the renal vein can be bifid. Retrograde catheterization can therefore be very challenging if 100% of the renal blood must be diverted. #preclinical #CTscan #VascularResearch #RenalResearch #MedTech

Preclinical glaucoma news from Market Scope: NurExone Biologic (OTCQB:NRXBF) (TSXV: NRX) (FSE: J90), with offices in Canada and Israel, reported Dec. 6 findings of a preclinical study of its lead candidate, #ExoPTEN, for repairing optic nerve damage. Researchers utilized a rodent model of optic nerve crush to simulate the damage associated with conditions such as glaucoma. Treated eyes regained nearly normal retinal activity, as evidenced by electrical tests, NurExone said. #glaucoma #preclinical #neurodegeneration #nerveregeneration #neuroprotection

MedChemAdvent 21. 𝐅𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐳 (18𝐅) (brand name Flyrcado) Flurpiridaz is a cyclotron-produced radioactive diagnostic agent for use with positron emission tomography (PET) myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) to evaluate for myocardial ischemia and infarction. It is a first-of-its-kind imaging tracer for PET scans that helps assess the perfusion of heart muscle cells and gives a clearer picture of blocked arteries in the heart and any damage to cardiac tissue. Flurpiridaz was discovered by Lantheus (formerly known as Bristol-Myers Squibb Medical Imaging) and GE HealthCare did further development. The compound is a Mitochondrial Complex I (MC-I) inhibitor. It demonstrates rapid uptake by cardiomyocytes with high first-pass extraction fraction by the heart and slow washout due to high specificity for and potent binding to MC-1. During the discovery of various pyridazinone analogs, a structure-activity relationship (SAR) assessment indicated a preference for the fluorine label to be incorporated on an alkyl side chain rather than directly on the heterocyclic moiety. See the paper on Flurpiridaz discovery here: https://lnkd.in/e2JVeggu 𝘐𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘰𝘧 2024 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘥𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘥𝘳𝘶𝘨 𝘮𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘋𝘈 𝘪𝘯 2024.
