At the 41st meeting of the Assembly of Parties of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO), IMSO Director General, Mr. Laurent Parenté emphasized the crucial role of satellite communications in today’s world. He highlighted the need for reliable, secure, and accessible services, especially in underserved regions. Drawing parallels with IMSO’s mission to contributing to safeguarding maritime safety, the Director General stressed the importance of collaboration to uphold public service obligations as the satellite industry undergoes a transformative shift. Let’s ensure no one, on land or sea, is left behind in this connected world. International Telecommunications Satellite Organization

🎉 Major milestone for SLICES-RI today 🎉 🔔 Today was the first meeting of the SLICES Interim Supervisory Board (ISB) thanks to the work carried out in the European SLICES-PP project. 28 people were "virtually" present for this kick-off meeting: 5 countries as members and 10 as observers ("membership" procedure underway). 🔎 The goal of this ISB? To discuss and decide together on the strategy for the creation of the ERIC (European Research Infrastructure Consortium), the legal structure of SLICES. 📢 This first meeting was very interesting and set the stage for discussions on the topic over the coming months. It's a huge challenge ahead, but one that holds a lot of promise for the future.

#imso #maritime #maritimesafety IMSO (International Maritime Satellite Organization) has achieved 45 years of success in the maritime industry by providing essential satellite communication services to ships and maritime organizations worldwide. IMSO has played a crucial role in ensuring reliable and efficient communication at sea, enabling maritime safety, security, and operational efficiency. Through its global network of satellite systems and ground infrastructure, IMSO has facilitated seamless voice, data, and internet connectivity for vessels, allowing for effective vessel management, crew welfare, and emergency communications. IMSO's commitment to innovation, collaboration with industry stakeholders, and adherence to international standards has positioned it as a trusted and influential organization in the maritime industry.
The International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO) celebrates today 45 years since the IMSO Convention came into force in 1979, which led to its founding. Originally known as INMARSAT, it has revolutionized global maritime safety with satellite communications and its key role in the provision of the satellite component of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). Privatized in 1999, INMARSAT became Inmarsat Ltd, and IMSO continued overseeing Inmarsat public safety services in the GMDSS and later Iridium. In 2008, IMSO also began coordinating the Long-Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) system. IMSO’s success is due to strong international collaboration and its contribution to the enhancement of maritime safety and security worldwide. IMSO remains dedicated to its mission, working with IMO and partners for a safer maritime future.

HellasQCI, a project coordinated by GRNET -National Infrastructures for Research and Technology (Greek NREN), operating under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance, had the opportunity to engage in productive dialogue with representatives from several National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) involved in their respective National Quantum Communication Infrastructures (#NatQCIs). These discussions involved participants from Poland's PSNC (#PionierQ), Ireland's HEAnet (IrelandQCI), Hungary's KIFU (QCIHungary), and Cyprus' CYNET (CYQCI). The discussions included the technical challenges, the solutions and the future collaborations of the NatQCIs and the NRENs for the deployment of the national quantum key distribution networks. These further underscored the collective effort and the commitment of the NRENs to advance quantum communication technologies, ensuring a secure and interconnected #EuroQCI #HellasQCI #QuantumCommunication #GRNET #TNC24 #GÉANT #QuantumCommunicationInfrastrucutre #NRENs #pionierQ #IrelandQCI #QCIHungary HellasQCI Γενική Γραμματεία Πληροφοριακών Συστημάτων - Υπουργείο Ψηφιακής Διακυβέρνησης GÉANT Petrus CSA

"💼 Had a blast with the talented 51Cs at MICC HQs, diving deep into operational contracting! 🚀 We explored the 4 contract lenses of OCS: supported unit, commercial environment, contract means, and contract organization. Initially, our focus was the supported unit, but my perspective shifted to Base Service Installations (BSIs) as a crucial center of gravity. 🎯 BSIs act as power projection hubs, where contracting fuels contingency ops and supports our units. Shifting our focus to BSIs, we aimed to make sense of it all! 💡🫣 More thoughts are needed and most importantly, we need different opinions to help refine and propel our doctrine. #OperationalContracting #ContractLenses

#CISE, the Common Information Sharing Environment is all about enabling different maritime authorities to have access to additional information across borders and sectors For that reason, last week's CISE stakeholders discussion centred on how to define the new version of the CISE Service Catalogue. Thanks to the enhanced Catalogue, maritime authorities using CISE will be able to keep each other informed about the information available in the network and what information others expect them to provide. What’s more, the new Catalogue can serve them both for operational purposes as well as for technical implementation. Find out more about CISE: https://lnkd.in/gBd5Rr7D #maritime #informationsharing

Live broadcast (stated as of 14:30, at March 22): ◼ We will restore the Dnipro HPP as soon as possible. We already discussed the reconstruction of the station with our international partners and financial institutions. They are ready to support us. This is enormous and expensive amount of work to be done. ◼ The missile strikes were launched since 04:10 am, at March 22 until almost 7 am. The fire was localized around 8 am. Dnipro HPP is currently out of service. ◼ Dnipro HPP is the most powerful station in the Dnipro cascade. It plays an important role in ensuring the stability of Ukraine's power system. We have lost critical capacity for an indefinite period of time. https://lnkd.in/dscbWNqm #Ukrhydroenergo #DniproHPP
