The India International Science Festival (IISF) 2024 opened its doors on 30th November 2024, with the theme “Transforming India into a Science and Technology driven Global Manufacturing Hub,” the festival highlights India’s aspirations to integrate science and technology into its manufacturing landscape, propelling the country toward self-reliance and global leadership. The event is organised and managed by CSIR, and interacting with Hari Shanker, Managing Editor of Machine Maker, Dr N Kalaiselvi, Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), shared how IISF 2024 is expected to elevate #Guwahati, a city renowned for its culture and biodiversity, into a hub of science and technology. She further stressed the importance of increasing students’ interest in science, encouraging them to pursue careers in STEM fields to secure India’s scientific future. Dr Kalaiselvi also highlighted the diverse and dynamic nature of IISF 2024, which features several segments to foster innovation and collaboration. These include the Global Manufacturing Summit, the Young Scientists Forum, Narishakti, the Students Science Village, the Mega Expo, and a visual replica of the Moon. The life-sized replica of the Moon showcases realistic imagery of the lunar surface, and this is particularly significant as it connects with India’s historic achievement of landing Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon on August 23, 2023. IISF 2024 aims to create a ripple effect by focusing on outreach programs and youth engagement, fostering a science-driven culture that empowers students, researchers, and professionals alike. With its vibrant agenda and inclusive approach, IISF 2024 celebrates India's scientific achievements and lays the groundwork for a sustainable and innovation-driven future. #iisf #iisf2024 #technology #science #manufacturing #makeinindia #makefortheworld #guwahati #iitguwahati #chandrayan #machinemaker

𝗔𝗡𝗥𝗙: 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗥&𝗗 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽🏫 The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), established by an act of Parliament in 2023, is set to transform India's research landscape by promoting a culture of research, innovation, and development across universities, colleges, and research institutions. As an apex body, ANRF will provide strategic direction for scientific research in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP). With the establishment of ANRF, the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) has now been integrated under this body. One of ANRF’s key objectives is to foster collaborations among industry, academia, government departments, and research institutions. This includes creating robust interfaces to encourage active participation from industries, state governments etc., ultimately bridging the gap between academic research and industrial applications. A major initiative discussed by the ANRF’s Governing Body earlier this week, was the launch of a mentorship programme in a hub-and-spoke model. This initiative will pair universities at the nascent stages of research with top-tier institutions, accelerating their growth through mentorship and collaboration. ANRF will play a pivotal role in shaping India's global positioning in key sectors like Electric Vehicle (EV) mobility, Smart Infrastructure, Advanced Materials, Solar Cells, Health & Medical Technology, Sustainable Agriculture, and Photonics. These programs, set to launch in mission mode, will significantly contribute to the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. In addition to solution-focused, industry-aligned translational research, ANRF remains committed to promoting fundamental research aimed at advancing knowledge. The Governing Body emphasized the need for Centers of Excellence to support interdisciplinary research, especially in humanities and social sciences, while also ensuring a flexible and transparent funding mechanism for researchers to enhance ease of conducting research. Aligned with the Viksit Bharat 2047 goals, ANRF's initiatives are expected to position India as a global leader in research and innovation, leveraging best practices from around the world to drive scientific and technological progress.
