Business Research and Innovation Initiative (BRII) Grants from $50,000 to $1M for renewables and low emissions projects The BRII is seeking innovative solutions for government policy and service delivery challenges. The three challenges in this round of the BRII focus on: 🎣 increasing energy efficiency of commercial fishing operations 💦 powering safe drinking water for Australian First Nations remote communities 🍷 alternative packaging for premium Australian wine This grant presents two opportunities: STAGE 1 (up to $100,000) - Testing the technical and commercial viability of your solutions. STAGE 2 (up to $1M) - Building on your feasibility project and producing working prototypes or demonstrations. Crüe Club Elevated! Reflecting on the year, and we're not even through the first quarter yet—things have truly taken off in ways I couldn't have imagined. The depth of our connections within the Crüe Club community has grown in such a meaningful way. We are re-launching Downstream in 2025 with an expanded format and more international content. After a good solid run at the Lower Hutt Events Centre we have moved Downstream to Te Pae in Christchurch for 2025. Downstream will now feature three streams of content with sessions delivered across three separate presentation areas. This allows a wider range of subjects and more variety for attendees to pick and choose sessions of interest. So we move away from a more singular theme to a pan sector approach. We’ll still run our larger main plenary sessions for the big key presentations and ministerial addresses. While there is a lot going on in the New Zealand energy sector we’ll also hear some interesting insights from speakers from Australia, the US and the UK. If you are attending EMEX in London (Docklands) and want to find out more about Caldera and the decarbonisation of industrial heat then come and find us at our stand or listen to me speak on the subject on Day 2. Many industrial sites struggle to find ways to decarbonise their heat affordably. Fortunately, newer technologies have now reached the point where they can deliver cost savings compared to fossil fuels. Depending on the site's requirements a combination of behind-the-meter solar, heat pumps, and Caldera’s Storage Boilers can deliver an optimal solution. My session will cover the pros and limitations of each technology, and how to use them to deliver both carbon and cost reductions.   Three discussion points: The challenge of industrial heat decarbonisation is the price of natural gas – how can electrification beat gas? Heat pumps are an efficient way to decarbonise heat due to their COP – what are their limitations? How does thermal storage stack up against other storage solutions such as batteries?

Excited for #IPF2024 #IPFConf next month! The U.S. recently achieved a milestone with the completion of the South Fork Wind project by Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) and Ørsted. Last month, New York also awarded contracts to two struggling offshore wind projects, signaling a commitment to bolstering the industry amidst challenging economic conditions.This highlights the importance of offshore wind in creating local jobs, driving supply chain investments, and fostering large-scale clean energy generation. Several states will play a pivotal role in the Biden administration's aim to deploy 30GW of capacity by 2030. Despite challenges like high interest rates and supply chain constraints, positive developments abound. The launch of the country's first two utility-scale offshore wind projects signifies significant progress. Wind turbine manufacturers are reporting improved profits, and contract revisions in New England signal a market shift. However, uncertainties persist regarding industry recovery and costs. Long-term certainty hinges on consistent project construction and leveraging existing infrastructure investments.
