B is for Biosolutions 🌱 and B is for Berlin 🌱 The potential of Biosolutions was clearly recognized in Berlin, Germany this week, where our partner, BIO Deutschland co-organised, a diverse group of stakeholders across ministries, companies, research, and organisations to discuss how biosolutions can strengthen Europe’s sustainability, resilience and competitiveness. Companies from Germany and Denmark AMSilk GmbH | Biotech Materials, @Planet A Food, Corden BioChem GmbH, Innocent Meat , Matr Foods, Novonesis, clearly showed that the solutions are already there, but ⛔ regulatory red tape need to be removed 🔨 large scale up facilities build, and 💰 finance made available for them to stay and/or grow in Europe. The importance was underscored by Dr. Christine Lang, member of the Coalition’s governance board who stated: “We must do everything we can to preserve our livelihoods while remaining economically strong and independent. Biosolutions are the appropriate key to this. 🌱 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 – 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 | 𝐈𝐓𝐙 𝐏𝐥𝐮𝐬 𝐁𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐡 Climate change and limited natural resources are among the greatest challenges of our time. The gradual transition to a more sustainable, climate-friendly and resource-friendly society is both difficult and inevitable. 🌍 Over the next few weeks, we would like to highlight the areas in which the BioPharma Cluster South Germany members are driving this sustainable transformation forward today with ITZ Plus.    ITZ Plus represents the binding element between science and industry for innovative, sustainable cooperation projects.  Among other things, projects for the recycling of waste and residual materials are realized here and bio-based, renewable base materials are developed.   Sustainability has played a key role right from the start. Regional natural materials were used in the construction of the technology transfer center, which was completed in 2023, and no further surface treatments were used. For example, the outer shell of the building is made of clay bricks. The wooden floors and doors are purely oiled or soaped. The main staircase is made of raw steel.   ITZ Plus is the first elementary building block in the efforts to further develop the Biberach region into an innovation hotspot. The Industrial Bioeconomy Transfer Center (TIB), which is dedicated to the transition to a sustainable circular economy, will soon be established. In this way, ITZ Plus and its successor, TIB, will strengthen progress through research and development in the fields of biotechnology and the bioeconomy and significantly expand knowledge transfer between business, science and society. In addition, further centers with larger business premises are planned in order to keep the biotechnology start-ups growing up in ITZ Plus (and later in TIB) in the region.   ---   The BioPharma Cluster South Germany creates an attractive, cross-functional and innovation-driven environment for the research, development and production of biopharmaceuticals and therapies. Last week, we had the opportunity to attend a discussion about the success stories of Bioarray Genetic Diagnosis and Mondraker in #internationalization. Andrés Antón Salas, CEO of Bioarray, and Miguel Pina, Brand Manager of Mondraker, shared insights into the challenges, setbacks, and triumphs their companies experienced on their journey to becoming industry leaders. Fernando Laviña Richi, Head of Digital Commerce at IMEX Impulso-Exterior, moderated a thought-provoking debate, highlighting several key elements that contributed to these companies' #success: 1. A clear #strategic vision 2. Strong #branding 3. #Innovative products or processes to differentiate their offerings from competitors 3.
