Should you be focused on Digital Transformation or Innovation? As someone who has spent the past decade shouting from the rooftops about digital transformation, my answer may surprise you. I think the difficult truth is that it's time to give up on the term digital transformation. It's been abused for too long. Too many people have slapped the term on anything tech related, focusing on the 'digital' bit rather than the 'transformation' bit. I've been giving this a lot of thought recently because of my work with SymphonyAI. What we're doing in the #EnterpriseIT space is truly innovative. The platform itself is innovative, but the most impactful part of it is its ability to be an enabler of #transformation and #innovation for the enterprises that use it. But calling it an enabler of #DigitalTransformation just fell flat. I went in search of a new, better term and realized that it was there in front of me all along: innovation. As I've been working through my thoughts on what it means to drive innovation, I realized that it really lies at the intersection of three things: a vision for the future, a strategy to realize that vision, and a culture that can sustain it throughout the transformational journey. There is much more to come on this soon, but these have been a couple of 'aha' moments for me over the past week or so and I wanted to share. Here's my bottom line. As an #CIO or #ITLeader you should be focused on driving innovation — in all its forms — within your organization. It will be a deliberate act, but you'll need to focus on all three of these parts — vision, strategy, and culture — to make it happen. Thoughts?

It is by learning that we can improve and make things better, to Innovate, and become Strategic (working on the Future Competitive Advantage). * Adapt to the environment, because the environment will not adjust to us * Zero-based budget and zero-based calendar to reset every quarter or every year * Learn for 10 minutes per day. * Build a case for an alternative way (the exact opposite of the current business) to grow. #GSummit #ConnectedForSuccess

The biggest mistake organizations make while building a culture of innovation is … Making innovation an event based approach.. driving once in a year hackathon-like event and then not do anything else about it at all Instead why not make innovation - fun, collaborative, actionable, systematic and tangible? It’s not easy or straightforward for sure. I had the incredible opportunity to share some of our case stories driving F.A.S.T.
