I'm not sure if there are many bands out there which take climate change (and other important social matters) as seriously as Massive Attack do 💪 As part of their August show in Bristol they're putting on their lowest carbon show ever. The below is taken from the Train Hugger website: Mindful of the fact that up to 80% of emissions for major live shows come from audience transport, and private car use creating 9 times more carbon than travelling by rail, the band have teamed up with Train Hugger to make the following exclusive offer for fans travelling outside of Bristol on 25th August: + purchase of a rail ticket for travel outside of Bristol = a wristband for show day VIP bar and toilets + wristband = free post show travel via e-bus travel to rail station + 5x post show "show special" trains made made available by GWR - departing Bristol from 23.30 + each rail ticket - creation of new climate resilient woodland in the south west By taking part in this experiment, Massive Attack fans will create a climate resilient woodland of 19,150 native oak trees in James Wood, near Taunton, approx 40 miles from Bristol. The land comprises 85 acres of former farmland and unmanaged woodland and provides education, carbon capture, flood resilience and a rich area of biodiversity. ------- Side note - I don't know WHY it is, but Bristol seems to be the hub of the climate movement and sustainability - at least from where I'm sitting 🙌 (if any Bristolians know why please tell me!) #massiveattack #trainhugger #climatechange

Our own research has shown that: 🚛 Electrifying 10 vehicles used for last mile delivery (e.g. rigid trucks) is as beneficial as 56 households purchasing an electric vehicle 🚛 An Australian articulated truck travels 6x more kms than a passenger car annually, uses 40x more fuel and produces 50x more CO2. ✅ Day 1 of the World Passenger Festival 🌍 I was fortunate to participate in a panel discussion on "Effective Strategies for Shaping Mobility Behaviours with Effective Public & Shared Transport as the Backbone." 🚌🚇 🛴 🚴♀️ Together with Theresa Doppelbauer, Jaromir Beranek and Blaz Pongracic, we highlighted some of the tools, case studies and technological needs for shaping sustainable mobility behaviours. 🌍🔧 Some key takeaways included: 🗝 Convenience and habit are among the core drivers of sustainable mobility behaviour. A mindset shift only slowly changes actual habits. Any public + shared mobility experience needs to feel more convenient than potentially a door2door ride with a private car. But positive peer pressure also helps. 🗝 Cities and municipalities need to take the lead in designing the best possible mobility network for their citizens by asking the right questions, transforming data into information and sharing these with all relevant players. 🗝 Future mobility requirements in cities will be shaped by climate change and a growing population. But we still need to address some of our current needs, specifically of the ones that mobility solutions were not designed for (like everyone but men going to work and back home) Thank you to the organizers and to Harald Deprosse for guiding us through the conversation.
