🛳 Attending the MCN Members' Meeting in Bremen was an insightful experience! 🌟 I had the opportunity to gain exciting insights into the Maritimes Cluster Norddeutschland (MCN) activities and current challenges. My key takeaways from the event include: 1️⃣ MCN is part of the ResC4EU initiative, aiming to create resilient international supply chains in Europe and strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises in the maritime industry. 2️⃣ Ship efficiency and fuels are among the industry's biggest challenges, and MCN is developing guidelines to support decision-makers. 3️⃣ Recruitment of talents is essential for the industry, and MCN serves as a platform for exchanging with recruitment experts to effectively target young talents. 4️⃣ As part of their current strategy, MCN consolidates and enhances its efforts to offer members valuable exchange and guidance on technological and digital transformation. Additionally, it was great and inspiring to see the passion and commitment of the MCN team in bringing the maritime industry together. Engaging with fellow members allowed me to discuss these challenges and explore possibilities for further cooperation. Key takeaways from yesterday's session, especially from a recruitment perspective: ❓ Website accessibility Ensuring your website is optimised and accessible for everyone is crucial. Is your website user-friendly for all, including those with disabilities? ❓ Inclusivity beyond accessibility Accessibility doesn't always equate to inclusivity. What proactive steps are you taking to make everyone feel included? ❓ Employee consultation Regularly consulting with your employees about improving processes is essential. Do your people feel they belong and are heard in your workplace? ❓ Interview process accessibility Is your interview process genuinely accessible, or do you assume everyone can navigate your preferred method? Flexibility in interview methods is key. ❓ Supportive facilities Offering facilities like a quiet room, prayer room, breastfeeding room etc., can make a significant difference. Are these facilities available in your workplace? or does this sound alien to you? ❓ Building trust and belonging People stay where they feel a sense of trust and belonging. What initiatives are you implementing to reduce attrition and foster a supportive environment? There are industries that are less inclusive and we have a long way to go, but nothing changes if nothing changes!
