The last few weeks have been a whirlwind but I am still up on cloud a million after winning my LUCA for Small Practice from ICB UK (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) However, it's been busy catching up on client year ends, in addition to the usual VAT and CIS. I have a charity year-end that has some specialist member reporting so my excel skills are needed. I also did a big 23-24 catch-up for a client that wasn't on software -> NOT ANY MORE! Well, they were for sales only, didn't care about the rest?! Looking back at the Summit and the LUCA it was really reassuring to find that I am using the best software #awardwinning Apron does a great job of handling paperwork IN and payments OUT (ongoing developments and I like working with them - there is 1 field I really want to make VAT checking better) Xenon Connect for error checking and health scores (don't ask 🤦♀️ but really good for showing clients where they are going wrong if they are let loose) Engager.app keeps all my deadlines and signatures flowing. I've got it working with my sister and can see when she has done some tasks meaning I can do the next bit In my practice, I use both Xero and Intuit QuickBooks, but I'd like to call myself a #quickbooksqueen if that's not too bold. I'm there on Thursday and I have a list of queries to 'discuss' (including the thing I want for Apron) I have been looking at some new bits of software - so hit me with your recommendations if you think I am missing something. #platespinning #cpd #bemorebookkeeper #bakingbookkeeper - haven't done any for a while as the trouble is I have to eat it - maybe tonight in honour of #BakeOffFinal

XfE - We're not just a product, we're people and we're your partner 🤝 The past couple of weeks have been exceptionally busy for us here at XfE, but we've tackled it heads on, and we're now coming out of the other side in a far healthier state. Whilst we need to pay tribute to the software we use and the software we have developed, it's critical for us to remember WHY we do what we do. Our purpose has always been to make people's lives better and easier, and there's a fair few examples of this in the past few weeks: ❌ We have discussed with a prospect WHY their requirements will NOT be a good match with our system (fear not everybody, this was a very unique set of circumstances!) 📋 We have helped a number of trusts UNDERSTAND their figures and outlined WHY things migrated from their legacy system are different to their annual accounts - definitely a value add but all part of the service and they were delighted - "I have never understood the accounts but this hour has helped me so much" 📊 Fathom has been implemented at several Trusts and they are benefitting, or very shortly will benefit, from the fantastic reporting templates we are setting up 💥 We have been working very closely with a Local Authority to set up a plan, and execute, the rollout of XfE to all of their 20 schools - we've already saved 2 days a month for the LA on some reporting too! 🤐 We're currently building out 2 more integrations to XfE to Specific Budget Solutions and hopefully these will IMPress everybody - read between the lines folks! I'll be sharing my story next week on how one of our clients is helping me personally, and this has really shone a light on the WHY we do what we do! Today I'm in London for a Xero partners day so plenty of time to work on our WHY on the train 🚄 #LoveMyJob #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork #BestInClass #EducationFinance

NOVEMBER ALREADY?! Surely it's not just me who is wondering where on earth this year has gone?! Here we are in November, and things don't seem to be slowing down at all. Here's a flavour of what the XfE and Thorne Widgery team are up to this month: 🖥️ Department for Education AAR Automation is now LIVE and we're really excited to be enabling Trusts to save (on average) a FULL DAY on their population of the Annual Accounts Return 🤝 Meeting with the latest PLANERGY Spend Management newboy Stephen Jones to nerd out on all things finance systems and show exactly what we can do with Xero 💙 Joseph will be heading to Cardiff with me to watch me on a fireside chat with Amie discussing our journey so far as a practice using Xero and hopefully inspiring more Accountants to take that first step on the journey 👋 Exhibiting at the The Schools & Academies Show in Birmingham later this month with Evan, Jack, Daniel, Adam and Joseph, explaining to MAT CFOs why XfE is still the best kept secret in Education! 💭 Quarterly leadership meeting within the team, setting ROCKS for the next quarter and reviewing progress on all kinds of fronts. 🧡 Onboarding 9 more Local Authority Schools onto XfE (meaning that this LA has 12 out of 20 schools using our system....soon to be 20!) And finally....a couple of BIG HITTERS for Trusts.... If you are using IMP Software you will now be able to fully sync your actuals from Xero into your forecasts via the XfE app. Or.... If you are using School Business Services for your budget software you will also be able to fully sync your actuals into your live forecasts via the app! These are our two biggest requests and we're absolutely delighted to see them in action.... We're still only just beginning - let's hit November hard and then close out the year on a high! #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork #OneTeam #LoveMyJob #SAAShow #BestInClass

Our newest course is like playing with fire. How many MSPs know how to fix a computer, build out a cloud environment, or write a script? But how many of us can read a P&L? Understand Net Profit or COGS? Yeah, I know. Check this out. Kyle Christensen and Robert Cioffi are bussin' on this course.
💡Do you dream of having a well-trained and growing MSP? | Follow for Accountability & Growth Hacks | Co-Founder @ Empath 🐘 | Advised $100M+ Companies | Repeat 10x Growth Survivor 🚀
As the clock struck 1 am last IT Nation, Robert Cioffi and I found ourselves in the lobby of the hotel talking finance strategies. I can't make this up... We went on and on about the stuff we wish we knew and the stuff that no one told us, so we just threw things at the wall. We failed, we cried, we learned. That is why this latest course at Empath is so personal as it truly has come out of a passion to teach the 'dark side of the moon' in MSPLand. This isn't just a basic report in Intuit QuickBooks or Xero but the roadmap to your MSPs maturity and success. Go check it out, we hope that you love it as much as we loved making it. https://hubs.la/Q02GxDhm0

𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆: The week started with a great co-thinking session with Aive Uus from KoThinker. Lots of ideas and collaboration! I also shared a post with a big smile, encouraging everyone to tackle late payments with GetPaid on Xero. If you’re ready to join our community of happy clients, check it out here: GetPaid on Xero. 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆: We celebrated an exciting milestone—our 700th follower of BizzCtrl on LinkedIn! 🥳 It’s fantastic to see this community of people saying goodbye to overdue receivables continue to grow. 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆: I had a productive networking morning with Tracey Carter from FSB at the Hogsback breakfast meeting. Later, I posted about how GetPaid simplifies dealing with overdue invoices. Forget the hassle of reminders and chasing payments—our professional partners handle it for you quickly and ethically. 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆: The week got even better at the B2B Expo in Bracknell. Huge thanks to Matt Larcome for organising such a brilliant event! I also shared a post about the year-end challenge of unpaid invoices. Don’t write them off—collect them with GetPaid, even if they’re years old. Now is the perfect time to tidy up your balance sheet before the new year! 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆: We ended the week with Top Tip #8, featuring Klaus and the concept of Skonto, a German approach to incentivise early payments. Klaus, an architect, faced delays receiving payment for a fantastic drawing he created for a client. By using Skonto, Klaus could have offered a discount for early payment while charging extra for delays. For example, an invoice of £20,619 could include a 3% discount if paid within 14 days, reducing the amount to £20,000. This incentivises prompt payment while compensating for late ones—a win-win!Want more tips to manage your cash flow and tackle unpaid invoices? Claim your free guide: Top 10 Essential Tips. We’re in June already! Summer holiday season is fast approaching….how was half term for you?🛝🏖️😎 This is a gentle reminder that you need a plan of action for your business finances and bookkeeping admin if you are going to get organised and prepare for the long summer holidays ahead. The kids will be off school for 6 long weeks and I expect you will be wanting to enjoy some well earned rest and relaxation on your holiday adventures. It’s also going to be the busiest time of the year for many small business owners. I hear you, it will be a busy one for me too! There is also something else just around the corner, and time is definitely ticking to get a plan of action together for this one….. On the 31st July, if you are self employed and have submitted self-assessments previously you might need to make a ‘payment on account' with HMRC, which will be an advance on what you will need to pay them in January 2025. Please don’t shoot the messenger, but this is just one more reason why joining my membership here at the Business Finance Academy could be just what you need to get that plan together & finally get your to-do list in order. Tomorrow the doors will close for a while here at the Business Finance Academy! If this post is talking to you, and you are concerned about any of the above on your to do list, you really don’t want to miss this final opportunity to join the membership as a founding member at the special price of £37 per month. When we re-open the doors later in the year, the price will increase for all new members. If you need to find out more about the other reasons to join you can find all the information right here: 👇 https://lnkd.in/eRRkQCZ3 Joining my membership will empower you to get organised with a proper plan. Please don’t wait, it’s time to take action! #HMRCDeadline #ToDoList #Bookkeeping #BusinessFinanceAcademy
