👶👧🧒 The Children's Advocacy Center provides vital support and resources to children and families who have experienced trauma or abuse. We believe that every child deserves love, care, and a chance to heal. And that's where YOU come in! 🙌 🎁📚 We are seeking donations of new items that will bring joy and comfort to these young individuals. Here are some suggested items you can donate: 1️⃣ Toys and Games: Help brighten their days with age-appropriate toys, stuffed animals, puzzles, board games, and art supplies. 2️⃣ Books: Foster their love for reading by donating new or gently used books for all age groups. A few sobering stats from the "Household Food Insecurity in Canada, 2022"◽ report: ◾ 22.9% of households in Newfoundland and Labrador experienced some degree of food insecurity in the previous 12 months, amounting to 116,000 people. ◾ This is the highest rate in any of the ten provinces in Canada. ◾ 28.8% of children under 18 in Newfoundland and Labrador lived in food-insecure households. Since 2022, NLCU has held its annual NLCU Fall Food Drive to help support individuals and families in Newfoundland and Labrador who experience food insecurity to get the nourishment they need. Helping Families with School Uniforms 💚 We teamed up with Frank Rogers Building Contractors charitable foundation and Cash for Kids to support 62 low-income families across our neighbourhoods with school uniforms. Together, we raised over £9,500, providing essential items like shirts, jumpers, skirts, trousers, and coats for 131 children aged 4 to 17. Families received approximately £50 per child, helping to ease the cost-of-living pressures. One parent shared: "With the support, I was able to buy uniforms and even save enough for groceries that week. It made a huge difference." This initiative highlights the power of partnership, showing how collaboration with contractors like Frank Rogers can deliver meaningful impact for local communities. #SocialValueWeek #CostOfLivingSupport #ThrivingCommunities #SVLG
